“Just for tonight
Just maybe we made it
Seem like we want this
Seem like you want this”
I rummaged through my bag that was slouched down next to me trying to find where the noise was coming from, until I pulled out the blackberry my parents had gotten be last Christmas, taking a quick glance at the screen to see It was mum before I answered ‘hey mum’ I said in a cheery voice trying to hide the disappointment in my tone as I realised this call probably meant they wouldn’t be coming home. ‘Hello darling, your father and I just wanted to wish you happy birthday before we got on our flight back to California’ my mother said in her usual cheery tone. That was when it hit me they were actually coming home, coming to see me. ‘That’s great mum, what time do you think your be back?’ I asked eager to hear the answer. ‘Probably about 4 in the afternoon, we have something very important to talk to you about. Got to go now Ava, love you lots’ she said and hung up the phone, leaving me with a massive smile across my face.
I quickly ran up the 3 flights of stairs (I may have forgotten to mention that my house was massive although my parents being superstars probably gave that away) until I reached my floor, it was all painted pink and had a bedroom, a small living room, my very own washroom and a library because I always had loved to read. I walked over to my closet and stared out the thousands of outfits I owned, pretty summer dresses, tons of jeans, and shorts, and as my mother would say ‘cute’ tops. I pulled out a baby blue summer dress that was covered in butterfly’s and slipped it on over my underwear, my mother had always loved me in blue and I quite liked the colour also. I put on some lip gloss, and some blue eye shadow, ive never really been one to wear allot of make up, even when I went to events with my parents, witch I tried to avoid.
I had been sitting in the lounge for about an hour watching E! News, I knew quite allot of celebrities thanks to my parents so I found the program quite interesting. When my parents walked through the door, looking exhausted. ‘Honey ive missed you’ my dad started say walst walking up to me and enveloping me in to a giant hug. God ive missed him I thought to myself whilst my mum came and joined’ she was looking as beautiful as ever. We all sat catching up for a while until we decided to go grab some dinner, at our fav restaurant. As soon as we stepped out side the door I could see the crowds of paparazzi pushing themselves up against the gate, it had been like this all summer but there were triple the amount of them now my parents were home, I had allways hated how I could barely do anything with out being watched or judged or used for my parents, thats why I barely even botherd to go out.
“happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Avery, happy birthday to you” the whole restaurant started singing, as my face started to go red and a blew out all 17 of the candles on the blue tiffany cake that was sitting in front of me. That’s when mum passed me the envelope that was about to dramatically change my life ‘happy birthday’ she said as she watched me open it. I slowly pulled out the white piece of paper from the envelope, when I realised it was a one way ticket to England. What the hell!? …
