Stacey ,sobbing beside the grave of Gerald, her husband who died in a car accident. She can't compose herself at that moment, but all she knows now is, how can her life be without him.
She remembered his vow:
I may not promise to be the ideal man you wanted to be, constantly, but I promise to you my love for you will never die out, even if my last breath is taken away.
She also remembers the big smile on Gerald's face. The genuineness of his words and love were summarized in such a unforgettable smile. Then, tears ran down her cheeks.
"Now that your breath is taken away are you still loving me the same? Coz' I know, myself, still loves you the way you are before we were wedded." She whispered shakily. Then , she held her head down facing the muddy ground with a black umbrella on her right hand and dropped the white rose on her grasp.
"Oh, sweetie. I believe that this is not the end." Her mother comforted her while caressing her dark hair.
The funeral ended and Stacey is still in there in the cemetery. The cold wind, the rain, the mud and the silence didn't made Stacey run home.
Will I ever see you again? Will I see myself the child we wanted? She thought deeply while staring at Gerald's grave.
Minutes of silence has passed, then chuckles of a young girl was heard. She is reminded of the child they wanted.
Is this the child we dreamt of? She thought again. She was enlightened with the hope to see a child with Gerald's blue eyes, his lips and her dark hair, her complexion, her nose.
She stood up and tried tracking the voice of the girl. The voice led her to the woody part of the cemetery. She saw the child talking to someone. The child of her dreams. She was impressed with the child's strong imagination. But when she saw the girl sat on the forest floor facing to her, she was actually talking to her hand.
She continued staring at the girl with confusion, until the girl saw her. The girl immediately stood up and went at the bushes where Stacey is.
"Ah!" Stacey let out a small shriek. Then, Stacey covered her face with her hands.
"What do you wish for lady?" Asked the girl. "Anyways, I'm Brigette." She introduced.
Stacey face lit up with tears smudged all over her face. Stacey remained silent while watching the girl slowly glaring at her.
"I said what do you wish for?!" Brigette exclaimed.
"I - uh - I,"
"You shouldn't be here." Brigette commanded.
"I want my husband back." She said furiously.
"As you say so." Brigette said and ran out the woods. Stacey followed the young girl.
As, they reached Gerald's grave, Brigette asked "Is this your husband?"
Stacey nodded.
" Wear this." She handed her a topaz necklace. Stacey nodded and wore the jewel.
"Don't take this off, okay?" Brigette added.
"Okay." Stacey agreed
"Now, kiss the grave." The girl commanded but, Stacey just shot a confused look.
"Just kiss it." The girl repeated and Stacey did so. She knelt on the muddy ground and leaned forward to give the grave a kiss. Then, Brigette patted Stacey's back and recited a poem in an unknown language.
"What are you sa - -" Brigette cut her words when something bit her on the back real hard.
Stacey let out a groan, while Brigette watch black swirls crawl upon Stacey's neck upto her face.
Minutes after, her eyes were all black at Brigette's vision. She is seen floating by her. But to herself she can see the ground of colors gold and white. The sky all black with mixes of dark blue. The smell of rotten flesh is everywhere. Corpses are roaming around like ordinary people, but they cannot see her floating above them.
She kept finding Gerald, though she had almost forgotten his appearance. Until, she floated above a crossroad with a man sitting on its intersection.
She saw the familiar rusty blonde hair standing out. The big scar Gerald got from the accident.
"Gerald?" She said above the dead man, and she slowly descended in front of him.
"Stacey?" The man, who is really Gerald, reassured.
"Gerald!" Stacey exclaimed and hugged Gerald, and marks of rotten flesh and blood were displayed all over her body. Tears came running down Stacey cheeks.
"Don't cry." Gerald said, comforting Stacey. Then, he wiped the tears of Stacey.
"I miss you." She whispered shakily.
"I want you to be with me." Gerald said.
"How? It's like I'm still living and your - -"
"What does this mean?" Gerald said referring to the necklace.
"Oh, a girl said I'd never take this off so I can see you, here, face to face." Stacey explained.
"So, the prophecy of these walking bones are real?" Gerald commented.
"You will always be my immortal beloved." Gerald added.
"What do you mean?" Stacey said but Gerald didn't answer. Instead, he pinned his eyes on the necklace.
He took the necklace off, thrown it into the never ending sky they're walking on and slowly stepped backwards. Stacey saw Gerald's scars which he got from the accident, and his eyes were full of horror.
"Why are you acting this weird" she asked again.
"You will always be my immortal beloved." He repeated.
Seconds later, Stacey feels her heart beat faster. Then, she noticed, black swirls crawling up her limbs. She has gone weaker than in our world. She, feels like sleeping. Then, her vision drifted in eternal black.
Gerald held her and he gently kissed her pale forehead. After he kissed her, her eyes suddenly open in pure black.
"Now, we can live each other here for eternity." Gerald said and immediately wrapped Stacey around her rotten arms.
(Up where Brigette is.)
"I'm actually good at making another hopeless spouse fall again for this death trap." Brigette praised herself and happily skipped towards the woods of the cemetery to find another victim.
