Howdy Doody

(This story isn't about me remembering the show, just my mind coming from a 67 year old women, and this never happened. But the song is a little.... wrong?)

Does anyone know that kids T.V show from the 50's? The one with the guy and the puppet. 60 years ago, I was 7, I watched that show EVERY day. The puppet always made me laugh, and the song always got stuck in my head. Overnight it became a sensation. The music-hall crowds delighted in its rhythm and its nonsensical lines. I went to every one! Brought back to America by Lottie Collins in 1894 it was greeted with the same enthusiasm that the English had accorded it, and has remained one of America's most popular songs. Well, then it was.

I decided to find a show on youtube, just to watch. To remember old times. As I watched, It was the same thing every time. The show would come on and sing the song that went like this, "Tra la la boom di-ay  There was no school today.   Our teacher passed away,   She died of tooth decay!   We threw her in the Bay,  She scared the fish away!   And when we pulled her out,  She smelled like sauerkraut!" Now that I think about it, why does that sound so... wrong....?

Then I expected the puppet to come on. But no. It was just static... What in the world? For 26 minutes it just showed a static screen. Where was all the puppets and laughing?!

I decided to call my brother, a few years older then me. He never understood why I liked the show. He said it wasn't even a show.

I called my brother and asked him about the show. He said he knew what I was talking about. I asked him about the static, and he said it was always like that. When he was 13, it was always static, but when his friend brought over his 6 year old brother, it was this talk about stuff after the song, during the static. He said he got all of his friends siblings to get them to watch the show. All of them did, but it ended with the age of 11. All they saw was static too.

I thank my brother and ended the call. So I was watching a static screen all that time?

I thought that maybe there was something at the end of the show, so I just watched through the static. At the end there was nothing. I was about the shut down the computer when an email popped up. It read,

"Tra la la boom di-ay

There was no school today.

Our teacher passed away,

She died of tooth decay!

We threw her in the Bay,

She scared the fish away!

And when we pulled her out,

She smelled like sauerkraut!

But now that you've found out our secret,

Saw it was all a lie,

Its now time for you to die!"

I freaked at the email. I deleted it right away, for another email reading the same thing. The lights went out, and I fainted.

I woke up a week later in a hospital bed, I didn't even want to know how I got there.
