Zoey's pov.

"Hey Scott's mom is working so we have to be careful." I said as we entered the hospital.

Derek then suddenly grabbed my wrist and pulled me into a room. It was a hospital room with a patient in it. I frowned as he pulled back the curtain.

"Mr. Meyes?"I whispered as he made no movement or motion to answer as Derek looked at me and Mr. Meyes with a questioning look.

"You know him?" Derek asked me.

"Yeah..sort of..he was Scott and I's old bus driver when I was living with them when my mom died and my dad was too drunk to care for me." I mumbled while I tilted my head to the side before Derek slowly glanced over at the man before grabbing me and pulling me a little bit back.

"Open your eyes." Derek said bluntly to the man as nothing happened.

"Open your eyes!" Derek said more aggressively as Mr. Meyes did.

"Look at me." Derek said as Mr. Meyes turned to him while looking at me standing next to a brooding Derek.

"What do you remember?" Derek asked Mr. Meyes but only one thing seemed to process through his mind.

"Hale." Mr. Meyes said weakly.

"How do you know my name?" Derek asked while moving closer to the man.

"In sorry." The old man said as I felt derek pull me closer to him.

"How do you know me?!" Derek stressed as I gasped as Mr. Meyes heart rate monitor started to go faster and faster.

"Derek...I'm sorry." Mr. Meyes said as he laid back calmly in the bed as Mr. Meyes took his last breath.

I felt someone tugging on my arm.

"Zoey come on we have to go." Derek said bluntly while looking at me before I nodded and followed him our of the hospital and out to his car.

I got in his car and sighed deeply. Mr. Meyes was dead that poor man yet he knew about Derek? But how? I was pulled out of my thoughts when the drivers door was slammed shut but an angry derek who's breathing was uneven.

"Derek?" I said softly as he glanced at me before sighing.

"I'll take you and your dog home." He said as I nodded before remaining silent until we arrived at my house.

I jogged upstairs with Max at my heel and saw my dad and grinned.

"Hey daddy." I said happily.

"Hey Zoe." My dad replied with a smile.

"Can I go over to Scott's for a sleepover please?" I begged with puppy dog eyes.

"Sure but you don't go anywhere from his house understood?" He said sternly.

"Yes sir." I said as I ran and grabbed my stuff I'd need before I grabbed Max's leash before running downstairs where my dad was waiting for me.
