'In order for some to live, others must die'- The Wolf (Ringing Bell)
The following takes place 110,000,000 years ago.
I will never forget what happened to me all those years ago.
The day I lost everything- my mother, my entire pack- still stays vivid in my broken mind, haunting me to this very day. I was so young when it happened, yet I still remember the blood leaking out of the necks that had been slit, and the last screams of intense fear from creatures I had known from birth.
I am a Deinonychus, and I am the last of my kind.
I don't have many memories beyond the massacre that destroyed my pack that I held so dear. But I do remember my mother, in fuzzy images within my mind. She was a beautiful specimen, a raptor with a slim build and deadly precision in her graceful moves. She had dark purple feathers covering her small, dinosaurian body, with white bands around her torso and tail- something I have myself as well. But what I remember most about her were her eyes. Large, green orbs, constantly expressing the emotion she would feel in the moment. Whenever I was around her, love would pulsate from her emerald eyes. She cared for me very much, and had a high ranking in the pack- second only to her sister, the alpha.
But the days where I had someone to cherish are gone. Now, I am all alone, still searching for the creature who took everything away from me.
Deinonychus like I were raptors. We had narrow, toothy snouts, fitted onto a gracile neck. We had large claws on our winged arms, and of course, a sickle claw on each foot. We had long, stiff tails, and were covered in feathers.
Slowly, I lower my dark, navy snout to the snowy ground, sniffing. The pungent stench of my enemy was pulled into my nostrils. I called her The Merciless. She was close- soon, I will fight her, and gain revenge for my pack. The white forest surrounding me sang with birdsong, filling my ears with the happy chirps of the feathered creatures. Snorting, I lifted my head, and scanned the cold landscape with my brown eyes. The sun had started to set, it's gold ripples decorating the sky as it sat just above the horizon. I had spent the entire day searching for The Merciless, so now would be an appropriate time to rest. I brushed the snow below me away, using the sharp claws on my feet. Then, I lay down, curling up to keep myself warm. I burrowed my head underneath my feathered, wing-like arm. As the last rays of light disappeared from my world, the night sky began to form, with twinkling stars decorating it. I looked up to the stars, then shut my eyes, allowing the blackness that taunted me every night to swallow me up once more.
