Chapter1

Its march 27th today, the day I finally get to go back home.

“Honey, don’t forget to call us when you get there and be very careful.”

“Dad, you’ve told me that a million times. I can take care of myself. It’s not like I’m going anywhere you don’t know of. I’ll just be on a plane for a couple of hours then I’ll be with your 2 older and responsible kids.”

“That’s what I’m worried about” my dad murmured.

I chuckled and gave him a hug. “Don’t worry daddy. I’ll take care of myself. I have to go now or I’ll miss my flight. I love you. See you in 3 months.”

I waved back and started walking away.

The plane landed smoothly and I finally got off. I didn’t know what to expect since I haven’t been back to America for almost 5 years. My family and I moved to the Philippines when I was 8. Ever since then we haven’t been back except for my brother and sister. My brother Connor moved back here 2 years ago for college and my sister Jay followed a year after.

I searched around for my 2 supposedly “responsible” guardians for the summer. Once I spotted 2 tall people I ran up to them, one being a dirty blonde guy and the other a red headed girl. For the heads up I’m a brunette. Wondering where we got the different hair colours, well our dad was originally blond but dyed it black when he was a teen and kept it that way while our mom is a brunette where in I inherited. Asking where my weirdo of a sister got hers. In her words she likes to “spice” things up so she dyes her hair different colours at least once a year.

“Hey there little sis, I’ve missed you.” Connor said while lifting me up and twirling me around like he would when I was younger.

“I’ve missed you too Conbon! And I can’t believe that you can still carry me!” I said excitedly

“Of course I can! I’ve been working out” he said while flexing “but I think you should cut a bit of the Mac & cheese”

“HEY! Are you calling me fat?!”

“Maybe”

“Okay, okay. You have another sibling right here.”

“Sissy” I yelled and tackled my sister. This led to making us fall. Connor helped us up and we had another group hug. You could say we were the close type of siblings; we’ve always had this special bond.

“So, sissy, how have you been the since my awesomeness hasn’t been in your presence?” jay asked

“Oh it was just so awesome!”

“Shut up. I know you’ve missed me”

“Okay girls, it’s getting late so we should get going because it’s a bit of a long way back to Sacramento.”

Connor being the good brother he is got my suitcases while I just carried me duffle bag. We walk out with me in the middle. I’ve missed this. It reminds me so much of the old time like when we were all still in the Philippines, Connor finally got his driver’s license he drove us all around the city. It was just the 3 of us singing along to the radio which is always fun because my brother and sister has the most amazing voices ever. When I was still a toddler I would always wait for them at night because they would sing me to sleep.

We climbed into the car with Connor driving, jay in the front seat and of course me in the back. For the first half of the ride I mostly slept. I didn’t realize how tired I was from the flight. I woke up to two people singing which of course were my brother and sister. I smiled just looking at them goofing around.

“Oh, look someone’s finally awake.” Jay said

“Sorry, didn’t think I would be this exhausted from the flight.”

“Oh look! Ryls! There’s an in n’ out burger place. You want something to eat first?” Connor asked

“Yes please! I’m starving!”

He just chuckled and turned toward the fast food place.

“You guys go ahead and get a seat while I order for us.” My sister offered

“Don’t forget about my large vanilla shake and fries please” I yelled after since she already started walking to the cashier.

“You she’s only ordering for us because she finds the cashier, you know. “ Connor whispered

“Of course I do. We’re talking about our sister here”

We walked to one of the corner tables like we usually did.

“So Conbon, I haven’t heard about any girls lately.”

“And let’s keep it that way.”

“But I thought we tell each other everything? Wow, that just hurts bro. we haven’t seen each other in two years and you won’t at least give me the decency to know about the girl you’re with.”

“Ryls, it’s not like that. I’m not even with her yet.”

“SO THERE IS A GIRL!”

“Yes, there’s a girl but me and her are just friends.”

“With benefits?”

“Wtf Ryl. I am not talking about my sex life with you and who taught you about that stuff?”

“Wouldn’t want to hear about it anyways and it was you, you dweeb!”

“We’ll talk about my ‘love life’ some other time, okay?”

“Whatever you say brother”

Jay approached our table with our food and a huge grin on her face.

“You got his number didn’t you?” I said

All she did was give me a smile

“That means a yes then” Connor mumbled

Our whole meal time was just us laughing and talking about anything we could think of. At one point we even talked about how I should stay there with them. What they didn’t know is that’s the only thing I ever wanted since they left. After about an hour and a half we were back on the road towards home or in other words my brother’s apartment. I guess I fell asleep somewhere on the way because I felt myself being carried and put down on something really soft. I didn’t mind opening my eyes since I felt so tired. Not long after I felt my consciousness slip away piece by piece, finally I was in dreamland. I dreamt of being on the beach the sun was out, it wasn’t too hot but just right. I could hear kids laughing and playing around. I saw a little boy not older than five running towards me and yelling mommy. He reached me and wrapped his little arms around my legs then I noticed two other little boys a bit older than the one next to me and a little baby girl around only a year old also running towards me.  They reached me and wrapped all their arms around me forming a group hug with me in the middle. They all had genuine smiles and giggle which warmed by heart.
