Jan 1942-Sep 1945
The "greatest generation"
is growing very thin,
there's an awful a lot of us
who've gone around the bend.
We had our day in '45
when we whipped the
the mighty foe.
Some of us
went on to fight in
other conflagrations,
we could not bear
to stay at home
and went to
help the nation.
Since then we had
some other fights
of which there's
been a question
of right but
that is not a
Marine's plight.
We fight for freedom
that is always right,
let no man stand
before our might,
we'll not be defeated.
So carry on
my gallant friend,
we'll stand together
until the end.
To fight the foe
and to defend
our sovereign
glorious nation.
Semper Fi!
