THE AUDITION FOR 'HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE'

He had been told that this audition could make his career or break his career, he was told that this could change his life if  the film turned out well, and the money was good too but all of these words went above the head of a 12 year old Tom. His mother was waiting outside in anticipation with her hopes high. He was frightened. This was his second time, he had already auditioned for the protagonist, Harry Potter's part and also for a guy named Ronald Weaseley's part, and now he was here for the part of one Draco Malfoy. He probably was the only one out of a crowd of twenty thousand who had never read the book, which automatically had brought him a level below all the other guys but what boosted his confidence was his experience which each one of them lacked.

He reviewed what his mother had told him. "Greet them, speak politely, say thank you no matter what happens. Think, act, speak like a gentleman, always."

"Hello!" A girl with the cutest freckles and frizzy hair said, bringing him back. "Can I sit here?"

"Yes, of course." Tom replied with a smile as she sat on his left.

Silence.

"I'm Emma Watson. What's your name?" She said, extending her left hand, turning her whole body towards him.

"Thomas Andrews Felton." He said, turning towards her, extending his left hand.

They both exchanged their hands and ended up with both right ones. Emma told him to stop, extended her left hand and finally they shook hands.

"In your way, my name is Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, but I like my way better, Emma Watson. You can even call me Em. It's just short for Emma. I don't have a nickname, I really want to have one. They are so cute and easy to say. I really want one."

" In your way, I'm Tom, just Tom. It's just short for Thomas."

"I like it. My neighbour has a dog named Tom."

Tom did not reply. And when it struck Emma, she sunk into an embarassed silence.

A minute passed.

2 minutes past the puppy comment.

3 minutes.

4 minutes of muffling laughter.

5 minutes.

They burst out laughing. They laughed and laughed. Stopped. Glanced at each other and then laughed and laughed. Their eyes were filled with tears when they were called for doughnuts and cocoa. They leapt out of their chairs and made their way to the already loooong queue.

"You have never read Harry Potter!?!! How could you? It's the best book I've ever read, not that I've read that many books, but still. It might be the best book ever written in history." Emma said in one breath, jumping from one sentence to another.

"Alright, alright Emma, calm down. I promise I'll read it. But can you please tell me something about the book, I don't think I have a chance without knowing the characters." Tom replied, with a child's look of concern.

And then she went on and on about the characters, her eyes sparkling with excitement for she was making another human acknowledged to theHarry Potter books, which according to her were the greatest creation of mankind.
