Chapter Nine - Change pt1

(Fred's POV)

After everyone left, nurses wheeled me into a special room and helped me on a table.

"Drink this," said the nearest nurse, offering me a goblet.

"Well, what is it?" I asked her.

"Sleep Draught. You won't feel a thing," she squeaked.

Reluctantly, I took the goblet from her and downed it. Soon enough, my vision got hazy and blurred, and it was a struggle just to keep my eyes open. Within seconds I was out.

(Hermione's POV)

We all sat in the waiting room anxiously. There was no reason to be /scared/ but that was huge change for Fred, and we worried how it would affect him.

"Suppose you'll be able to tell us apart now, Mum," George said, trying to lighten the mood.

"What are you talking about? I've always been able to tell you apart."

Mr Weasley chimed in. "It got exceptionally easier when you lost that ear!"

"Aye," said Bill, looking up from his newspaper, "But now you're holy."

I smiled at their banter.

"Look at us," Mrs Weasley whispered to her husband. She had a point to. Ginny was the only one who wasn't physically marred in any way. They had all changed.

The minutes ticked by. The Weasleys were fun to watch when they were bored. Even Harry smiled some. They argued some. George even cursed Charlie's hair. It rose up like it had a life of its own and started almost to dance. He tried swatting at it, and eventually Mr Weasley stopped his dancing hair.

After some time, say a half hour, a nurse came to see us.

"You'll be able to see Fred in fifteen minutes!" she told them, "He might be asleep though. They gave him a Sleeping Draught."

We thanked her and sat jitter-legged once more. The next day, after Fred's leg is fitted on him, we will be able to leave for the Burrow. Harry and I will be staying there...where else would we go?

(Fred's POV)

Sleep is a wonderful thing. As I floated in a dream like trance in that hospital, I realized a few things. The first was the realization of sleep. Second was that I loved floating, and third was that, well, that I was in love with Hermione Jean Granger.
