Growing up in the 60's wasn't easy. Especially if you weren't the ideal of a perfect citizen which is Straight, White, and Skinny. Looks even mattered in the 60's and sexualities did too. This kept one girl from realizing she wasn't straight, but little did she know that whatever the bible said about her sexuality and whatever people thought about homosexuality, that she would live a decent life with her true love.
Teresa didn't mind being lonely, she didn't mind the single life. She had friends that were there for her. Its not that her love life didnt matter but like how Teresa was patient and also the fact that she didn't love guys the way she loved girls. Teresa was uneducated about homosexuality the only thing she was taught that was that only crazy white people commited the sin of sleeping with the same gender. Also Teresa was a black woman and being a gay black woman made it harder for Teresa to accept this love she felt. Even though her family was tramatized by the horrors of racism and discrimination, Teresa never thought all white people were the same and she tolerated them because she knew one day that they all wouldn't be like this and she educated each ignorant white person politely. She was right not all white people we're the same, Andrea was a privileged girl that Teresa had liked before, but she was in the closet it prevented her from being with Andrea. Teresa tried to hide her feelings for her but it didnt work permanantly, they came back and she soon realized enough was enough and her feelings shouldnt be hidden.
Andrea had been in a few relationships before but they all weren't the best for her. She had been in love, but the spark didnt last long and rushing her relationships were common and thats what ended them. Andrea was out already. Happy to be gay even though there were a lot of people in her life that shamed her. It was the 60's of course a lot of people shamed her, but she didn't mind she thought about the positive side and had all the real friends that stayed with her after the hard time of coming out. Andrea never really hid the fact that she was gay she always showed it even in her childhood. She was always told how she acted gay, and her parents didn't do anything about it they didn't mind having a gay child. She would tell her parents everything because her parents showed so much trust. But, one special girl was always talked about with her parents and her parents have never noticed how in love she was before. *Sigh* little did Teresa know how much love Andrea had for her.Like I said Teresa had enough of hiding the feelings and Terika was invited to Susan's house for a party. party was wild because Isabella brought lots of beer and it was addicting. Also realize that they are 17 and it should come across your mind how Isabella could bring that much beer. Anyways Andrea didn't drink that much she was still sober. Teresa went into the house to find Andrea, but she was no where to be found until she went upstairs she found Andrea reading a book in her bedroom. Andrea jumped out her bed and squeezed Teresa
"Why aren't you partying?" Teresa asked
"I was waiting for you...you took a while and i thought you werent coming at all and the party wouldn't be fun without you."
That put a huge smile on Teresa's face and just as Teresa about to confess her feelings for Andrea. Andrea slowly kissed Teresa and the kiss turned into something more. Andrea was a virgin she had never had expirence like Teresa, but it worked out. Sex to Andrea was like a really special bond and Andrea wasn't very confident about her body, but Teresa changed that after this special party on New Years happend. Teresa wasn't ashamed of being with Andrea, And Teresa made the choice to come out.
Andrea gave Teresa the happiness she deserves, and Teresa gave Andrea the love she always needed. They were soulmates and even tho they had some rough times they worked it out and got married and had children and Andrea's and Teresa's life could have never been any better.
Teresa and Andrea didn't choose girls over boys they chose happiness.
