I don’t think I ever thought that this could happen. It was all in my imagination before, all part of my dreams. I can’t believe that the girl standing here is me. Me? Yes! Maybe these secrets will be worth keeping…
“We should go see a movie, maybe stay in, what do you think?” Ellie asks the group of us, sitting in our new, refurnished living room.
“I guess we could go out.” I reply, shrugging my shoulders as if to say it didn’t matter to me much either way.
Ella or Ellie, as I liked to call her, is in fact a very good friend of mine. We only met a couple of years ago but never hesitated to help each other if the other was in need. We met in our history course at college, she was the smartest in the class. I on the other hand, hated history so one can assume that I was failing, miserably. Ellie came to my rescue after a few nudges from the professor and even with those, she refused to help me. I knew why she didn’t want to assist me in the course, I was a slob after all. After begging, promises and yes, even gifts, she finally helped me. Of course, she was very uptight at our first study meeting but she calmed and now we are roommates in this lovely apartment.
“I say we stay in, more alone time with my girl then.” Tyler suggested instead.
He wrapped his muscular arm around my small shoulders. He looked down into my eyes with sweet smile on his lips. How did I get so lucky?
Tyler and I have been together for half a year now, and it has been the happiest for me. I met him while I was roaming around campus, map in hand even after a couple of weeks on campus already. We met right before I met Ellie in history. I might have lightly bumped into Tyler as I was walking toward the unknown part of my map. I didn’t fall on my bum or drop my materials, nothing cliché like that. Instead it was literally a light tap, okay maybe a smidge harder really. I looked up from my map into those gorgeous green ones. At that time I was capable of one word sentences and being plainly rude because of my bad mood. ‘Idiot.’ That is all I said but it got a cute smirk out of him and a small chuckle. He didn’t ask me out until a few days of bumping into each other. The dates were nice, comfortable and hilarious. Now here I am, the luckiest girl alive, maybe I’m exaggerating a tiny bit on the ‘luckiest, alive’ parts.
“Gag.”
I playfully glare at Ellie. One word, that one word and she ruins the moment.
“Ellie, you’re missing out. Find someone quick, please.”
“Having a boyfriend means trouble, Scarlet.”
“Oh you are definitely missing out, girly.”
“You two are perfect for each other and that’s great. I just can’t find the right guy.” She replies with a small frown forming on her face.
“So I’ll make the popcorn!” Ty yelled from the kitchen.
I didn’t even notice that he left my side. Ellie had opened up the TV stand drawer to look through some of her movies but I know she’d end up using Netflix anyways. I on the other hand starred at the blank TV screen, zoning out as usual.
“Mom!” I yelled from my room upstairs, hearing the doorbell ring.
I was checking myself in the long mirror that now stood in the center or my room. It was prom night and I wanted to look perfect for my date. As I looked at the mirror, a small frown appeared on my lips. My friends told me that I looked beautiful in the dress when I was in the changing room but now that I look at myself, I disagree. My strawberry blonde hair was done into a beautiful side do, my long silky hair flowing over my shoulder. The hair stylist attached some fake glittery gems into my hair in random places. I barely wore any make up, just a bit of mascara and some light pink lip gloss. My eyes looked different with the little coat of mascara, making then shine. My lips might have looked good but right above them was crooked nose that stood out from miles away. My eyes travelled down to my strapless dress, a light baby pink color that “matched perfectly” with my hair, my mother had told me at the time. The dress had a heart shape at the top, making my breast look somewhat bigger. The material then tightened around my waist and hips. Right below my hips, the dress material loosened and flowed down to the floor. There was a slight slit in the dress, starting from about mid-thigh to the bottom of the dress, allowing my legs to have some more freedom. My heels were a slight darker pink, giving my already 5’6 height another 3 inches. I chose not to wear any jewelry even though my mother begged.
