Carlos places his warm hand gently on my shoulder. I softly close my eyes and try to prevent starting a conversation. We stare out of the window and into the endless pine trees of the outside world. I haven't breathed fresh air for about a year. The sun is low in the bright orange sky. I know he wants to kill me, but he can't. I'm the best warrior he has in this dying organization. There's no way he can ignore that.
He pats my shoulder and turns in the opposite direction. I refuse to look at him. I shake my head a little to try and push a away the strands of dark hair out of my face.
"It may not seem like it, but I see everything going on in your lives. Believe me, I'm paying very close attention. Try to get some rest, you head out early in the morning. We'll discuss details later." Carlos says as he walks out of the room. I force back my tears. I know what he means by "heading out." It means now I'm going to do what I've been training for. To kill anyone that stands in our way to power. Our mission isn't as simple as most think. Our mission is to take control of world leaders. DAGGER will rule. Or so that's what Carlos says. Inside, we are the same. Little children that still fear the possibilities of danger.
