The Girl From Up Above

This is my first story on wattpad, I hope you like it :)

It's pouring when I look out of my bedroom window. Smiling, I grab an umbrella and step outside, breathing in the cool air. Looking at my watch, I see its almost midnight. There's a full moon glittering in the sky as I walk along the empty streets.

Thunder rumbles as the lightning colours the sky in a purple glow. I keep walking. The streetlights casting warm shadows on my face.

I look back at my home and keep on walking but then something strange happens, something very strange. A huge gust of wind comes for me, I try to run but there is no where to run to. It picks me up and spins me around. I scream and cry helplessly as no one can hear me inside this hurricane. Its making me dizzy. I see my life flash before my eyes. Suddenly, I fall down on something that felt soft and smooth on my face. I didn't get up, I close my eyes thinking that this is all a dream but when I open my eyes I am still in the same unknown place. I said to myself 'I have to be brave and explore'. So I slowly got up, thinking about so many things but my main question was 'why am I here?' I looked around and what I saw was magical! I was up above the earth, standing on clouds! There were waterfalls, rainbows, everything wonderful that you could imagine. I didn't want to move I just couldn't, so I stood there standing with my umbrella up above the earth.

Finally I had the courage to explore this amazing place, only I didn't know where to start! I just smiled because I was the one who was chosen to come here out of all the people in the world. All at once this strange thing jumps out in front of me, I was stunned! I just stared at this weird looking creature for what seemed like ages but was really only a few seconds. It had butterfly wings, with a horse body and a head similar to a goat. This animal was very unusual to me, I had never seen anything like it. Unexpectedly it said 'hello' to me, i was so shocked IT could talk! I finally asked this unknown creature 'what are you?' Strangely the thing did not answer my question, it just remarked that I was rude for not saying hello back to him. I was amazed to hear someone say something to me like that, so of course I had to say hello. Now the creature answered my question and he said 'what am I? I am a Chimera, which is a mythical creature just call me phoenix. Then he asked me 'what are you?' I answered 'I'm a human being from earth. You can call me Ivy.' Phoenix said 'pleasure to meet you Ivy, I will show you around this magical place that I call my home.'

Off we went down a path that had luscious foliage down each side, and we stopped at a huge gate covered with flowers. Phoenix said to me "if you're wondering why this gate is here, it's because we are about to the enter the land of imagination. Would you like to come through?" I said "yes please, it sounds like fun". Phoenix said "the only way to get in and out is to close your eyes really tight and imagine that you are opening the gate with a golden key that has a four leaf clover at the end. It worked, I did it! I used my imagination to open the gate. I walked in and everything I loved was there in front of me. There was a chocolate fountain and waterfall, a jumping castle that was all made out of jelly, a massive tree to climb that had a cubby house at the top. My family where there, I ran over to them saying "you're here! Isn't this place great!" I was about to hug my mum but she disappeared. I touched my Dad, he disappeared as well. So did my sister when I touched her. "I don't get it, they where here but now they are not! What does this mean Phoenix, what's happening?". "Only one human is allowed in this place at any given time. It's the rules made by the Princess" Phoenix said. "Who cares about rules! it's just not fair, I want my family to be with me." Phoenix said "well rules are rules and you can't change them so come on, we still have much more to see" ."Fine then" I agreed. We keep on walking down the path with flowers on each side.

I was starting to get really tried and cold so I said to Phoenix "why is it so cold? Can I please have something to keep me warm?" Phoenix replied "no, where nearly there, stop complaining." I was thinking, this Phoenix, chimera is starting to be very mean to me. I sort of want to go home but I better not say that to him he might get offended. But then in the distance I saw a castle. It was massive and it was sparkling all over. It was so tall it reached the clouds. On second thoughts we are in the cloud right now.

I said to Phoenix "is that the princess's castle? It looks beautiful! Phoenix said "yeah, that's why you're here, to see the princess. She, ummm, wants you for some reason. I'm not aloud to say."

"But why? tell me!"

"I'm sorry' I can't."

"Come on!" I beg

" I can't tell you! Its about to snow so we have to get moving."

"Okay, okay!" I exclaim "there better be hot chocolate though."

Finally after a very long time of walking we arrived. It was amazing! I walked in side with Phoenix then all of a sudden two guards grabbed me! I screamed "let me go!" Phoenix laughed. You fell for everything, you actually followed me and believed everything I said. You're such a silly girl guards take this girl to the princess, she will tell you why she wants you. I didn't know what to say, I was thinking how am I going to get out of this mess. The guards lead me to a massive door which they opened and there sat the princess. The princess said gracefully 'how lovely to meet you. This is the person I wanted to see. I wanted you because you're different. You, and only you can save us and our world. You are a warrior, a light of hope for all of us. You understand this world better than anyone, even though you might not know it yet, you will learn soon enough. Save us, an discover yourself.'

'No! I can't I have to be with my family, I'm sorry I can't help. Please take me back home where I belong.' The princess said 'your staying here, guards take her down stairs and lock her up in one of the rooms.'

No, let me go I want to get out of here! The guards lead me to a room that was all dark and gloomy. It had one glass window, a bed and a plate of food. The guard left and I just sat there thinking about the glass window. I can get out of here all I have to do is break the window. I got the plate and smashed the window, I jumped out and ran.

I ran as fast as I could down the path with flowers on either side. Then I got to the gate. I remembered that Phoenix said you have to close your eyes really tight and imagine a golden key that has a four left clover at the end. I did that and it worked! I'm free but then this was the hard bit trying to get back home. I stood in the exact spot I was standing in when I came here and then it happened. The hurricane appeared and it was spinning and spinning me. I landed on the road and I looked at my watch. It was still midnight, the street lights were still on. It was like I never left. I raced back home ran up the stairs. I was starting to think it was all one mad dream. When I got to my bedroom, I went to the window and looked up at the night sky. The stars were shining bright in their constellations. I look harder and in the stars I see the Phoenix and the princess and everyone I met in the world up above. I closed my eyes and in that moment I knew, that it was all real, I am the girl from up above.
