The Pack 1:Darkness Rises

Chapter 2

        "What?!?"Layla yelled. She felt so enraged, she was worried that her head would pop off her body. She continued,"You're lying! I know you are!" "Layla, please calm down.." Her mother started to say, but Layla interrupted her,"Mom, I don't want to hear it! You've obviously set me up for a prank!"

     "Chill out, Layla," A voice from the shadows said. Layla tried to make out the figure, but couldn't. That voice sounds familiar, Layla thought, but I can't recall who it belongs to. Suddenly the figure came out of the shadows. She had long blonde hair and was wearing a short, blue dress.  It was one of her best friends, Savannah. "Savannah! What are you doing here?"

     "What do you think I'm doing here?" Savannah retorted. Layla was shocked,"You mean, you're apart of the Wolf Tribe too?!?" Layla could see in Savannah eyes that she was saying, duh. Savannah then said,"You guys can come out now." As soon as she said that, Layla saw her other friends come out of the trees. All of them were there. Ally, Elaine, and Kiera.

     Layla saw Ally come up and give her a hug. She said,"I know this is a lot for you to take in...well, it's a lot for all of us to take in, but we'll be right beside you all the way." Layla was touched that her friends were there to comfort her through this moment in time. Cirus said with a hint of annoyance,"Well, if the reunion is done, can we go inside now?" 

     "Inside that dark and creepy cave? No thank you." Savannah said. "Come on, Savannah! It'll be fun!" Kiera said with enthusiasm. "Fine. I'll go." Savannah scowled. As they were walking in, Layla noticed a bright light ahead. She thought to herself, What is that light up ahead? Could it be dangerous? They kept walking until they finally saw what was on the other side.

     It was absolutely beautiful. The whole thing was amazing. It was the beauty of nature inside the cave. Layla saw a tall tree right in the middle of it all, and it made her feel safe. Almost like it was calling to her. They walked off the cave floor and onto the soft grass. Cirus said to them,"This is the place where all wolf tribe members find out there powers."

     "What kind of powers?" Elaine said. "Elemental type powers." Cirus replied. "I CANNOT wait to find out what powers I have!" Kiera yelled out. Kiera was an eleven-year old. She was the youngest of all of them. Right now she was wearing her favorite tie-dye shirt with her ripped, jean shorts. Kiera was a little too......optimistic. Layla always keeps telling her that when she gets super optimistic, she also gets super annoying.

     They kept walking until they finally reached the tree. Layla noticed that there were markings carved into the ground. The carvings were a bunch of circles in a certain pattern around the tree. At that moment, Cirus said,"Each one of you needs to step in one of the circles." Savannah looked suspiciously at Cirus and said,"Why? Are you planning on harming us?" Cirus said sarcastically,"Yes. I'm going to harm you with my evil circles." Elaine laughed and Savannah rolled her eyes.

     Each one of the girls stepped into a circle and prepared themselves for the worst. Cirus spoke in a loud voice, but they could'nt tell what he was saying. All of sudden, the circles they were standing in lit up like a Christmas tree. Layla and her friends felt tense, like their muscles were about to explode. Layla could feel herself getting stronger, but she didn't understand why. Why is this happening? Layla thought. Why me? Then everything went black.
