"ESMEE;ESMAE!"
'"YES MOTHER?" chimed both my sister and I, as we sat playing Scrabble™ on our shared bedroom floor.
"COME DOWN, YOUR MOTHER AND I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS FOR YOU BOTH!"
We glanced at each-other nervously, knowing how our mothers are, this couldn't be good. See, we both recently finished our Sophomore year of highschool, and we've been looking for a new school since the... incident. Our mothers have this mind set of 'we need to find this for them', and have since the incident.
You wouldn't understand how hard it is trying to find a decent school for magick, why would you, you're basic. It's become more and more of a struggle enrolling places near home, and actually getting accepted. It's already early August and we're running out of time.
We decided to go, what's the worst thing that could happen? They ship us off to some unknown school on the east coast? Getting away from this bipolar heat would be a blessing in my book anyways.
"You don't think they found a school, do you?" Esmae asked me, panic creeping over her.
"Of course not, they've been trying since damn near February to do that. We're going to be homeschooled, we've known it since the beginning." I said smugly as I walked down the steps of the old Victorian home. "Nothing could bring them to actually let us go further than Oberlin, you know this Es"
She glanced at me before making her way down the steps too. I could see the worry in her eyes, it was the one thing about her that was vivid. You could see her emotions in her eyes, stabbing into your very soul until you acknowledged them.
"Oh babygirls, we have such a great surprise for you both!" Mother said, practically jumping from her seat in the kitchen.
We walked over slowly, in no rush whatsoever to find out this 'surprise'. It was probably just a new T-shirt anyways.
"As you know your Mother and I have been searching for a new school for you two to continue your studies. We've both thought long and hard about this decision, and we agree it's only the best thing to do" Our carrier, Chelsea, started glancing at our other mother first, Esmae second, then me, her eyes lingering on mines before pulling away as quickly as they had come. "We've enrolled you both into Evergreen High--"
"EVERGREEN? IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE? THAT SCHOOL IS FOR IDIOTS MOM" Esmae shreiked, throwing herself onto a stool. "It's in the middle of Georgia mom. That's three states away." She started hyperventilating.
I just stood there watching the scene take place. Evergreen huh? I've never heard of it, my sister obviously had though. The name sounded cliche, probably built from an old church or something.
"So you're shipping us away for two years, that's neat, I guess." I said biting my lip. This wasn't going to end well, that was for sure.
