Amelia was more than anxious when Adrian escorted her back to the hotel.
There is a mad killer on the loose, she kept thinking as they walked back.Adrian could tell she was on edge.
"You'll be fine, Amelia. The only concern I have is where Juliette's mother is. If she isn't dead yet," he said when they stepped into the grand lobby." Yes, but who exactly is Lillian? All Therese told us was that she was psychotic. If only..." Amelia drifted off, lost in her own thoughts until Adrian cleared his throat again." We could go to the different asylums?" He asked, stopping Amelia in her tracks. She knew it would take them weeks to find the right asylum." You know how long that's going to take. Besides, we need to find Juliette's mother before Lillian does," she continued up the steps, Adrian trailing behind. Before she even turned the knob of her room, the door was flung open by Dot. She had on a sparkly black dress with black heels, her hair curled and giant glittering diamonds adorned her ears." Hello. Amelia who is this handsome man?" She smiled at Adrian, who looked a little uncomfortable." Oh, um he's a detective. We are working on a case," Dots red smile turned into a frown."I should've known you'd get caught up with things like this. I'm going to the party down in the ballroom. Care to join?" She waited for Amelia and Adrian's response." Sorry, but I think I'll let you enjoy your evening with your sister," Adrian said." Um, I don't think I'll join either. Im going to retire to my roo-"
"Detective LeBlanc! Ms. Adams! I demand an explanation!" A woman's shrill voice interrupted Amelia. She swiveled to see a woman quickly walking towards the duo, flanked by a few officers and DuPont." I beg your pardon?" The woman's black hair was messy, and her eyes were red from crying." Who killed my daughter?! These fools aren't telling me anything of it!" Dot stared at Amelia, confused.
"Umm...I should go," Dot said, and slowly walked around the crew.
"Ms. Muller, if you could please calm down, we can tell you what you need to know." Adrian's calm demeanor and soft voice seemed to help the flustered woman. DuPont, surprisingly, wasn't yelling at any officers but looked reluctant to stand to the side. Ms. Muller sulked into Amelia's hotel room and sat on the nearest bed. Amelia sat by her side and Adrian stood next to her." Ms. Muller, we believe that a woman named Lillian killed Juliette. Do you have any knowledge of who she is?" Ms. Muller looked shocked to hear the name."She...is Juliette's twin sister. I had her put into Holdcroft Asylum in England because she kept hearing voices."
"Why not any asylums in France?" Amelia asked her. Ms. Muller inhaled deeply." I wanted her as far away from my Julie as possible. But obviously, I failed at keeping my sane daughter safe." Tears started to slide down her cheeks. Adrian had taken out a notepad and was writing down all that she had said. Ms. Muller looked down at her hands and mumbled a string of words."What was that?" Amelia asked.
"I suppose Lillian is coming for me too."
"Yes, I'm afraid that might happen," Amelia told her. Adrian put the notepad away and walked out to speak to Officer DuPont and the other policemen." We will make sure you will be safe, but in the meantime please be careful." Amelia instructed Ms. Muller to get the room next to hers, so she can keep an eye on her at all times." I'm sorry, but I'll have to decline. I would like to stay at my neighbor Therese's apartment." Officer DuPont shook his head." I'll have my best policemen guarding your home. LeBlanc, Ms. Adams, go to Rosewell Asylum and find more information about Lillian Muller," DuPont said, then turned to his band of policemen."Alright men, spread out and search for Lillian." They all stomped down the stairs, some gathered in a circle around Ms. Muller."Well, I hope you have a car," Amelia said to Adrian." Because this is going to be a long trip."
