I was walking through the paths up at Maple Port Park when I came across a path I had never seen before. I decided to follow it and see where it brought me. I was walking for what felt like forever through the fog. I was listening to the rhythm of leaves crunching under my feet when I looked up and saw a large mansion. This is a horror film I thought to myself. I walked up to the large rusty gate and pushed it open.

There was a long, eerie screech that went along with the movement of the gate. I walked through the gate and up the old, broken stairs. They were painted a cream colour, very similar to the house itself. Once I got to the top of the stairs I looked at the door. It was dark brown. It had very clear marks on it and a marvelous stain glass window. It wasn't forming any picture, just an alaberent pattern of shapes and colours.

After walking through the front door I got chills up my spine. Maybe I shouldn't be here I thought to myself. I ignored it and kept looking around. There were two rooms past the door, one that looked like a living room and another that looked like a storage space. I walked past the rooms and found myself walking up the stairs. Long, spirally stairs that felt so weak, they would break under me. After reaching the top, I had to decide where to explore first. Why are there so many rooms up here? I asked myself. I finally decided to start at the far left side. It turned out to be the master bedroom. The bed was perfectly made, old floral curtains in front of a window and a closet. I was quite shaken at the sight of the bed. It seemed to me that no one had been in this house for about 40 years, why would the bed be perfectly made?

I moved on to the closet. My legs had a mind of my own because I wanted to get out of here. I slowly open the closet, expecting to see a dead body, but there was nothing except an old wedding dress and some empty hangers. I left the closet open and walked out of the room. Next was a bathroom. There was an old bathtub and sink. The toilet was shattered and all over the ground. This is strange, I should go home now I told my self, but I didn't listen, again. I left the bathroom rather quickly. The last room on the left side was a guest bedroom. There was a murphy bed against the wall, in the upright position. There was a bedside table with an old lamp on it. The kind of lamp where you had to pull a string to turn the light on and there are many little fringy strings on the rim of the shade. I was walking to the door when the lamp fell.

I screamed and ran out of the room as fast as I could. I decided I didn't need to see anymore of the house but I started to calm down and went to look at the 2 rooms on the right side.

The farthest room on the right looked like a children's playroom. There was an old and dusty couch. It looked so old you could see half the springs in it. There were old dolls and wooden horses everywhere. I left that room, barely entering it in the first place and moved on the final room on the top floor.

It was a little girl's room for ages 6-9. Pink wallpaper and fluffy white carpet. It was spotless, like someone had cleaned it just that morning. This isn't normal I said to myself Get out of here. I was petrified when I saw a picture beside the door of a mother, father and little girl That family looks familiar I thought. But how could they?

Suddenly, many images of the family came to mind It's the Morson family manor. It's the family who was murdered in this very house over 20 years ago. I let out a yelp and ran downstairs as fast as I could. I tried to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. Without warning, a black cat came from under one of the chairs in the living room. The chandelier that was hanging by the stairs turned on then off then on again. Then I heard the most terrifying scream. It made my blood curl and I got chills up my spine again. The door finally opened and I ran out, as fast as my legs could move.

I booked it off of the mansions property and kept running along the path I came from. It was dark. I checked my watch and it was only 5:26. This is completely abnormal I thought. I was running and running and came along a street I didn't recognize. I have lived here for all my life. Why have I never seen this street before? I was petrified. I kept running until I found my house. I ran inside and locked the door quickly. My parents were gone. Everyone was gone.

That's when I started to cry. I started thinking about what happened at the mansion. Did my parents go in it? Were they killed by what ever was still in the manor? All these thoughts afloat in my head, making me cry even more. About half an hour later the door opened. I ran to the kitchen to get something so I could protect myself. I sprinted back to the door with what ever was in my hand and held it out in front of me.

"Emily there you are!" my dad almost yelled before pulling me into a hug so tight I couldn't breathe.

"Em, why in the world are you holding a wooden spoon?" my mom asked, me looking at the object in my hand.

I told my parents where I was. They told me to never go off like that again. Turns out, they went looking for me. They got the cops involved to.

I went to school the next day, taking the longer route so I couldn't go anywhere near the park. When I got to school I sat down at my desk. Some kids came over to me saying that they heard I went missing. I told them the same story I told my parents. Some kid walked up behind me, tapping my shoulder. I jumped a little and turned around. He said he went to the Morson manor and had the exact same things happen to him. That's when I knew, something wasn't right here at the Maple Port Park.

----------------------------------------------AN: ok so I wrote this for school but I'm like, super proud of it. I'm also writing a story about synchronized swimming but I don't know if I'm gonna post it. Hope you like it and message me if you have any comments. Thanks
