(Hey readers! This is our first time writing a fan fiction and were so excited for the adventures it might entail. I hope you enjoy and vote for it!)

It was September 5th 2013, my first day at Berkeley College in New York City. I woke up at 8:30 am to shower and load my stuff into the car. As the steamy water touched the surface of my skin my muscles contracted and relaxed a bit. I had been worrying about all of the stress that college brings, who I would meet, and who I would become. I expected college to be different from high school.

Once I had freshened up and dusted my powder on to set my makeup, I began loading the trunk with the help of my mother. "Emily, are you sure you need all of this," my mom questioned, "You're only an hour away from home." I shook my head and rolled my eyes at her. "I'm going to be away for an entire school year, and I can't just come home whenever I feel like it." I said. "Have you checked the list to see who your roommate will be?" She asked. "You don't know until you arrive." I answered. I hopped in the front seat of the car and slammed the door shut. I began the one hour drive to Berkeley. This is the start to my future as a homicide detective.

My black Jeep Wrangler pulled up into the parking lots behind the dorms. Today was orientation day, but first I had to find my dorm and unpack. I lugged my sticker covered trunk up the stairs and heard loud heavy metal music blaring out of room 31b. I checked my paper that the chancellor had given me to see what dorm would be mine for the next year. 31b. Great.

I knocked on the already locked door and a pale, structured face peered out at me. She muttered ineligible noises and ushered me into the room.

When I stepped into the room I took a look around at the walls covered in posters of rock bands. "Hello," I greeted. "My name is Emily.

"Hey, my name's Merideth. Are you the chick that I'm supposed to live with?" She said. I looked her up and down. She had a small frame and high set cheek bones. Merideth's dark hair fell past her shoulders and matched her matte black fingernails. Her leather leggings were oversized and baggy. Her stomach sank in and was visible from the ripped tank top she wore. "Yeah, I'm you're new roommate," I tried to smile but couldn't help but feel the negative energy she sent towards me. I have a feeling that I wouldn't be spending a lot of time with Merideth. I wanted to ask the dean if I could switch rooms, but I didn't want to sound needy my first year.

I sat down on the bed next to hers and began unloading my trunk. Once I finished I decided to go down to the dinning hall and check out the campus before orientation started. Moments later I looked up and Meredith's eyes were glaring at me. What was her issue. Something was definitely wrong with her and I needed to find out.

The fresh summer breeze greeted me as I stepped outside of the dorms. My stomach growled and I suddenly felt extremely hungry. A Chipotle was on campus so I briskly walked towards it thinking of what I wanted. I opened the door and ordered. Quickly my food was prepared and I sat down to eat. Moments later I realized that my trunk still had been unpacked! I gathered my food, and left.

I sat down on my bed and saw Meredith staring at me eating. She looked hungry.

"Want some chips?"

"Oh. Oh. No.... thanks." She replied. She continued to stare though.

"Um how bout part of my quesadilla??" You look hungry."

The famished girl looked eager to take a bite but something held her back.

"Oh no. Thanks though. Im... I'm full... well I'm fine", she sheepishly answered.

"Okay then..." I said. Meredith looked down at her hands and twiddled her thumbs. She didnt seem fine.

The next morning I woke up early just in time to shower, change, an grab a quick breakfast in the dining hall. After, I made my way to my first class: criminology.

I got there early and as I opened the door, a boy with gleaming blue eyes and golden hair gazed at me.

He seemed friendly, so I sat right behind him.

"Hey. I- I- Im Niall.", the shy guy murmured

"Hi. My names' Emily. Nice to meet you.", I blushed.
