CHAPTER 1 - MOVING OUT

"BROOKLYN! Time to come downstairs, we're leaving in ten minutes!"

"Coming down soon mum!"

I carry down the last packed box from my room downstairs into the living area where my family would used to watch movies. I place the box on top of another and carry it into the boot of my family's car.

"All set to go kiddo?" My dad asks me as soon as I swing the car boot door shut.

"Yeah, I think so." I say.

"Trust me Brooke it'll be fun! Your brother and you will love it in Sydney!"

"Yay! Whatever you say Dad!" I respond as if I would give a care in the world.

It's not like I'm not looking forward to Sydney and calling it my new home but the fact of starting a new school filled with complete strangers and joining a new Year 10 class where the people there by now have already formed their friendship groups and stuff. If it wasn't for my dad's stupid business work, I would still be happily here in Melbourne.

I jump in the five seater car in the back next to my younger brother, Leo who is glued to the screen of his iPad which looks like to be playing some sort of violent video game. Leo is 11 years old but can sometimes act as if he's still seven.

"Hey, put your seat belt on. Dad's about to start the car!" I try say to him but I don't think he could hear me through his headphones that he's wearing which seriously look like they are as nearly big as his head. I grab the headphone speaker from his left ear and pull it away faintly hearing noises from the game coming out from it.

"LEO!" I shout into his ear. "PUT YOUR SEAT BELT ON. DAD'S ABOUT TO START THE CAR!"

"GEEEEE! Calm down Brooklyn. I heard you the first time."

See, sometimes Leo can really get on my nerves and make me become so annoyed.

Mum hops in the front passengers seat and dad starts the car up by turning the key which made the car to form a loud grumbling sound.

"Okay Kids! Here we go!" My mum says trying to make my brother and I full of excitement.

It's quite a long drive before we end up in Sydney and I'm telling you now, it was the most horrible car drive ever!

"Are we there yet!?" Leo would whine every 2 minutes. God it was so annoying.

Luckily I had my earphones with me so in the mean time I plugged my earphones into my phone and listened to music whilst looking at the view outside the car window. I must've fallen into a deep sleep as we've already rocked up at the front of our new house.

"Kids! We're here!" I could hear my mum faintly say. "Brooklyn! Wake Up!"

I instantly open my eyes and unbuckle my seat belt. I open the car door and step out. It's getting quite dark and a bit chilly out as I'm presuming it's around six – thirty at night as I can see the sun go down. My mum, Leo and I start to take out boxes from the car boot whilst my dad unlocks the door with the key to our new house. It's a double – storey house and looks bigger to the one we owned back in Melbourne. As I take out the last box from the boot and call out to my mum, "It's the last box! I've got it!" I hear someone calling out a name. I can't really make out the name but it sounds like, 'Ethan.' I think the voice may be coming from next door.
