It was your 20th birthday and you received the shock of your life when your parents told you that you're going to get married to someone you've never heard of. You were so stunned that you didn't know what to reply to your parents. You're the only daughter, so you're sure that your parents wouldn't want anything to go wrong with your life. You couldn't refuse it because they have never made any decision for you since you were young. You grew up as a bright and free person. You decided on what you do or what you study. You just nodded when your dad told you that you'll be meeting your soon to be husband in a week since he's in the states for some business trips.
You went up to your room, having mixed feelings. A part of you felt scared, angry and sad that you're getting married to someone you don't know but a tiny part of you felt excited. You took your phone that was resting on the side table of your bed before dialing your bestfriend, Jinha's number. "Haerin!" You heard a very familiar excited voice that made you smile. "Hey Jinnie." You replied in a weak tone, you really have so many things in your mind now. "Oh, that vibe doesn't feel so good. What's wrong babe?" Jinha knows almost everything about you. She knows your taste in music, your fashion style to even your favorite things to do. You know almost everything about her too. The fact that you both have been more like sisters than best friends because Jinha doesn't have any siblings as well. "I'm getting married." You blurted out, you can't keep anything from her, and she always get the first news. "What are you talking about silly? It's 12 a.m in the morning." You knew it. Jinha couldn't believe it as well. "It's true. I'm not lying. Dad told me just now. I'll be meeting him in a week." You could almost imagine Jinha's expression. "Okay, you're not playing. We'll talk about this at campus tomorrow. Don't overthink and go to sleep babe. I'll see you at the dorm tomorrow okay?" Jinha said. "Mhm, okay." You replied before hanging up. You packed all your completed assignments to be brought back to the campus. You live with Jinha at the dorm. So the both of you will be at respective home only on certain weekends. You went to sleep right after packing your stuff.
The next day, you woke up to your cat kissing your nose early in the morning. "Good morning, beeboo." you chuckled before cuddling your cat. You think of it as one of your siblings. You sat by the side of your bed before making your way to the bathroom and took a quick shower, you put on a black jeans along with a white shirt before tying up your hair into a messy bun. You skipped downstairs to take your breakfast and greet your mum. Your dad left for the company early in the morning. "Good morning, Mum." You greeted her with a cheeky smile stamped on your face "Good morning, my little princess." she said, patting your cheeks. "I'm not sure if I'll be coming home this weekend. The assignments have been piling up." You pouted while telling your mum. "Okay, just make sure you eat well and call me everyday before you sleep okay? I'll send you meals if you don't feel like eating the cafeteria's food." Your mum said making you smile. How could I say no to her? You thought.
"Jinha!" You shouted, she waved at you from the entrance of the dorm. "I missed you!" she hugged you tightly, almost suffocating you. "Yah, you're always like this. It has only been two days." She grins showing her pink gums. "Hee It's like meeting my twin again!" she takes your arm and laces it around hers. "Let's go in." You just smiled at her kiddy behavior. "Yah, you said you were getting married didn't you?" Jinha suddenly screamed while unlocking the door of your room. "Shhh!" you placed your palm over her mouth before looking at your side. "Are you gonna tell the whole campus?" You whispered clenching your teeth. "Okay okay. Let's go in?" She said smiling foolishly.
You both went it the room and being your lazy self you immediately threw your body on the bed while Jinha cleaned the room. "Aish, It feels like I live alone. Really." Jinha whines while cleaning. "Aww, I wuv youuu. You know I don't like cleaning and you know I'm much better at making a mess." You looked at her, flashing your eye smile. "Tsk. You sure know your way out missy. So tell me about your future husband." Jinha took the duster and start dusting the study tables. "Future husband?" You sat up straight and both of you started singing Dear Future Husband by Megan Trainor. "Oh my gosh." Jinha stopped as you're still trying to catch your breath after singing and laughing. This is what you call friendship. Being able to do almost everything without feeling shy or embarassed. "I don't know." You blurted. "Hey girl, what do you mean by you don't know?" Jinha raised her eye brows. "I'm gonna meet him this Wednesday so I don't know how he looks like, I don't even know his name. Ahhh!" You plopped your head back on the pillow. "Mum and Dad is really going all in with your wedding huh? Not even telling you who's the lucky man's name." You glared at Jinha. "I'm just kidding. He's probably a prince from some wonderland." Jinha hugged you, trying to cheer you up.
Days passed by and it's finally Wednesday. You woke up to the sound of Jinha singing Perfect Girl by Monsta X. She's a really big fan of them. You memorized their names because she's always screaming each of their name while watching M Countdown. "What time is it?" You asked her while rubbing your eyes. "7.30 a.m" she replied with a curler on her bangs. "Oh, right. You have to meet your prince!" She screamed slightly before pushing you to the bathroom. "Make sure your body is squeaky clean! Oh, and shave your legs because you're gonna wear a dress." She said from the outside. "Why can't I just wear pants? They're much comfortable and I can sit with my legs open." You whined. "Gosh, you're meeting your soon to be husband so it's something like a date. Girls gotta look like girls on a date weirdo." She continued. You stopped whining and did whatever she told you to because Jinha has always been the genius in boys. "I'm--" You came out from the bathroom to a shocked Jinha. Her eyes looked like it's almost gonna stick to her phone. "Yah. What's wrong with you?" You looked at her worriedly. "One of them is getting married." She said in the most discouraged tone. "Who's getting married?" You went over to look at her phone and scoffed. "Geez, I thought someone died!" You knocked her head. "Ouch! Yah! I'm three months older than you!" You sticked your tongue out. "But which one? Shownu oppa? Not I.M because he's still a baby. My baby." You did a puking expression. "Ah, hurry up and help me get dressed!" You said and she immediately put her phone away. You wore a baby blue dress with a white cardigan and white watch. A white wedges and top it off with a high bun and light make up. "Done! You look good in everything girl." Jinha smiled widely, proud with her masterpiece.
You walked along the campus way with a few stares from almost every boy from your campus. Maybe because they've never see you with a dress. You ignored them and immediately went to your car. You drove to the address your mum texted you. Apparently, it was a cafe. Like, a really cute cafe. It was filled with cute dogs and puppies. You went in and got the shock of your life. No way. Heck-- It can't be him. Why is he there?! This is a kiss of death.
