Trust what you can see not what another claims to be.

I turned the last corner of the dark street and ran towards the aged building at the end. I stayed under the shelter of the darkness to keep my presence hidden to the outside world. Nothing good ever came to those who knew of my existence; those who do discover our existence we kill. It's the job. If we don't; the bad guys will. That is how it has always worked. That's what happened to Jane's friend. She told him what she was, what we all are. She begged for us to spare him so we did. A few months passed and he was fine, until a target of Jane's found out who she was and went after her. Her friend was at her new apartment helping her un-pack; she went out of the room for a couple of seconds came back and saw him lying there; dead.

That was the last time we allowed someone who found out who we are, live. It may seem cruel but we do it for their own good, we will act quickly whereas our enemy won't be so kind.

I lifted the chain around my neck and put the key upon it in the lock and entered. The hall way was a pale lilac with a lengthy mirror stretching across the walls. Defying its' appearance the mirrors were actually one way glass. This allowed the security team to keep a watchful eye on who is entering and leaving the building.

Out the corner of my eye I noticed a red glint; I ducked just as a knock out dart flew past my ear and pinned itself to the wall behind me. I stood slowly, facing the glass. I hit it three times with my arm, glaring at my own reflection. "What are you playing at!? It's me, you idiots!" I yelled.

I heard a door lock scrap followed by footsteps and a face peering around the doors corner; Lucy. She wore her brown hair in braids today with a black ribbon at its tip.

"Sorry Angel, I've been meaning to fix the connection between the off switch and the weaponry out here." She stepped into the hallway pushing her purple rimmed glasses up her nose. She wore a bright yellow summer dress and white slip-ons.

I sighed. "Fine, please deactivate them so I can get through."

"Will do." She said turning back to the control room. But as she turned her foot caught a sensor.

"Lucy!" I called as I jumped through other sensors to remove her from the arrows path. I shoved her back in to the control room just as the arrow caught my back, which was followed a nano-second later by 50 more.

I felt their liquid drain into my back. I fell to the wall just as I heard a beep which signalled the alarms had been turned off. 'A little late for that.' I thought.

"O my God! Angel! Angel can you hear me?! HELP, SOMEBODY HELP!" I heard Lucy shout as she shook me by the shoulders.

I opened my eyes slightly and mumbled "I think this place is protected alright."

I awoke in a dark room with my head pounding. I groaned pressing a hand to my head to try to relieve the pain. A floor board creaked from across the room; I reached down to my halter where I kept my gun. It was gone. Trying to be subtle I moved my hand to the back of my trousers were I kept a dagger in the case of my gun being taken. Footsteps started towards me, I waited until their owner was within arm's reach when I jumped off of the bed I was lead on and pushed up against the wall with the knife to their throat.

"Woh, A, it's me, it's me." The boy said. I reached up to the light switch by his ear and turned it on.

"Of all of the idiots at this place James, I would have thought you would be more sensible than to sneak up on me especially in a dark room." I said angrily.
