Chapter 42: The Pure Ones Dagger
Peter Pan
"I was expecting you dearie." A weird, strange voice said as I entered the Dark One's castles Dining Room. I walked in confidently and smirked when I saw him sitting at the end of the table, as if expecting me.
"Dear ol' Dark One, how does it feel to know you are at the end of your pathetic little life?" I mocked and he does nothing but giggle.
"I don't fear you, your highness. I also don't fear death. I'm willing to die for my loved ones." He said and I suddenly felt my chest tighten. Would I be willing to die for Adeline? Do I love her? No, I don't think I did.
I turned my attention back to Rumpelstiltskin.
"You know why I'm here..."
"And I'm willing to give it up as calmly as I can." Rumple said as he suddenly whipped his hand and the Dark One's dagger appeared in his hand. It gleamed brightly and I suddenly stiffened at the sight of it.
But something wasn't right.
Why would he give up his dagger and life just because I asked?
"Why are you doing his, Dark One? You know you're going to die yet why do you accept it so easily?" I questioned and he giggled his crazy laugh.
"Your majesty, I'm willing to die because I know what the future holds. And if my death will get us there easier, than I'm willing to accept it." He said and I suddenly remembered he had the powers of a seer.
"What do you seem?" I demanded and he giggled again.
"And why would I tell you?"
"Because I am your king!"
"Dearie, I know you're going to kill me even if I don't tell you. Why would I give you that advantage?" He questioned and I growled at him.
"The dagger, Rumpelstiltskin." I hissed and he tossed it with no effort towards me. I caught it and grinned widely.
"Hope you said good bye to your loved ones, Dark One. You won't see anyone you know for a long time." He remained in his seat and gave a sinister smile.
"I believe I'll have enough company."
With those finally words said, I plunged the dagger right over his heart and watched as the life left his eyes. He said nothing and did nothing to stop me.
It's as if he wanted this to happen.
Once Rumpelstiltskin died, I felt the power of the dagger be transferred into my veins. The magic was strong as it surged through me. As the power of the Dark One filled me, I glanced at the dagger and smirked as I saw its new name be engraved onto the silver of the knife.
Peter Pan
I held it tightly in my hands and felt the world's power at my command.
All I needed now was to return to Neverland,
And finish the deed.
Adeline Mills
My thoughts were running wild as I stayed close behind Tiger Lily. We walked through the vines of the trees and we were silent between ourselves.
"They're looking for you." She suddenly said and I raised an eyebrow.
"Who are?"
"The Lost Boys. Pan's has commanded for them to find you to no rest."
"Will they succeed?"
"No. This part of the isalnd is unknown. Not even Pan can step in here." She replied with confidence and I nodded. Finally, the scenery around me began to change.
It was faint at first, as if the change didn't matter. But as we continued to walk closer to our destination, everything cleared up. We were approaching a beautiful meadow. A meadow so nice, it didn't seem to belong on Neverland. The trees surrounding the meadow had a variety of fruits, a beautiful stream of sweet clear water surrounded a small opening in the middle of the enormous meadow. In the clearing that the water seemed to be surrounding, was what Tiger Lily wanted to show me.
"There. That's the Pure One's vault."
It seemed to be made complete out of a beautiful valuable glass as it caught the rays if the sun and gave it a beautiful gleam. It looked exactly like the Dark Ones vault, but the writings on the vault were different. Surrounding the vault that was on the ground was a marble floor. On the marble floor it had circles and swirls decorating it. And on each circle, it had a lovely glass stained portrait of every Pure One that had passed.
So far, as I counted, there were only eleven.
At the far end, there was an empty one and I knew as soon as I died, that circle would be furnished with my face on it.
"Beautiful isn't it?" Tiger Lily asked and I nodded, too out of breath to say anything.
I began to walk around the marble floor, examining each Pure One, when I reached a certain one.
It was obvious it was Victoria Mills, the first ever Pure One.
No doubt she belonged to the Mills trait.
She had light brown hair, almost curly, like my hair and my mother's, but not to the point, so it was wavy. Her bright brown eyes, much like Aunt Regina's. One thing definatly confirmed that she was a Mills.
Her smile.
Each Mills offspring had the same smile, where wrinkles appeared when we were enjoying ourselves too much. Overall, she was pretty. I didn't have much to examine her for Tiger Lily called me over again.
"Here." She grabbed the cuff that Pan had placed on me before he left. It was the small cuff that had prevented me to use my powers. But once Tiger Lily yanked at it, it easily slipped off. My eyes widened and I looked up at her.
"How did you do that? Pan said only he could-"
"When you enter the Meadow of the Pure, no evil magic can be permitted. When you crossed the border of the trees, this cuff lost all its power." Tiger Lily than threw it into the river that flowed around us and it disappeared underneath forever.
"Take a rose from the bush. With that and your magic, create a dagger for the Pure One. With that you'll be able to finish Pan off, as well as yourself." I nodded and glanced at the many rose bushes that outlined the marble floors. I reached for the smallest one and smiled softly.
"A small one can make such a difference." And I waved my hand over the rose. It grew for a slight moment before it began to take the form of a dagger. It was a little longer than the Dark Ones dagger. The middle of the knife was silver with black outlining. On the silver psrt were three rubies. The handle was swirled with the silver and black material, and at the bottom tip was a small red rose made if rubies. At the top of the handle, was a rose, with black leaves sprouting out and thorns twirling halfway up the dagger. It was beautiful and clearly written on it, in a fancy font, was my name,
Adeline Mills
I showed it to Tiger Lily who seemed proud.
"That knife will be the downfall of Peter Pan."
✴
My dear Readers, we are reaching the end of The King & His Queen soon.
Sadly, there will be no sequel and no prequel. This would be the end of Pan and Adeline's love.
But a new book is in progress called, His Weakness. It's a Peter Pan fanfic of course and the Prologue is out already.
Thank you for everything.
