Vanessa's POV
I stare into the infinity mirror in the ladies bathroom. Although, Miss Langley my last foster parent said I was a "minor" adult. She said I'm too foolish and to immature to be a lady. And that's one of the reasons I have so much negative energy running in and out of my head. Thanks Miss Langley however the hell you pronounce it.
Of course you'd think every human or "minor adult" girl, lady, whatever you call it has insecurities. I wonder if I'm the only one, probably not. But staring into the mirror more and more harder I feel as if I am.
My dull skin, dull eyes, and my stick figure like body. Although I hate agreeing to anybody in the home or any of my foster parents, she was right. A sad excuse for a lady. After clearing my head of negativity, I put on a little bit of makeup to spark my look. After confirming and readjusting my look I nod my head, grab my purse, and head straight for the door.
"Vanessa! Vanessa! Where are you!?!? I have something important to say" Ms. Davis says as she slightly runs towards me with a big smile splattered across her face. Ughh. Not another knucklehead. She's the lady who has no life because she runs this place. I mean how bored do you have to be to want to run a place full of kids who nobody wants.
I walk with all my bags on my back in the lobby while Ms. Davis chats away beside me. She helps me out a little with my bags and lays them on a nearby sitting area we rest at. I sit down while she invites herself to a seat right next to me. My facial stays the same with a signature "leave me tf alone" face with all the attitude you could ever want. But I'm just too nice.
My thoughts run wild with a lot of questions like. Ughh but you can never think clear when you are around Ms. Davis. Speaking is like a religion, like she must talk the ears off people every second of the day.
"Are you ready," she says putting her right hand on my shoulder smiling her "get excited" smile, "Vanessa this time they are all guys. Father, Rick, and your brother, Carlito. They're moving to Miami very soon. Now Vanessa be nice and smile, Rick has his own business and Carlito is roughly around your age," I sit down gulping all the big information. And all guys, seriously. Is that like bonus points or something.
Instead of responding all that, I lightly shrug to tell her that no matter how much I hate this I have no choice but to put up with it. This is my fifth family, how are they going to be different. I mean I'm getting 1 year away from being an adult, can't I just chill here til then. Living with them for a year is beyond stupid.
I break the silence, "Ms. Davis this is ridiculous, I'll be 18 soon. Why can't I stay here," I plead.
She looks at me funny because we had this conversation so many times. So many times I can probably site the things she'll say.
"Vanessa calm down, everything is going to be alright. Now just because you probably won't get a good school and providers we have like here doesn't mean this will be a bad experiment. I know one thing, that you will not come back here," she looks down at her phone and she replies, "They will be here in 5." I shake my head, sit back, and put my ear buds on to just escape. Ms. Davis on the other hand goes back to her desk to wait there.

I wait in the lobby sitting on a comfy chair. As I slowly turn down my music on the corner of my eye I see her raise up with greeting eyes. She greets them with firm handshakes and walks them to the sitting area I was at.
"Gentlemen this is Vanessa or Nessa as some call her," she says aloud motioning me to greet them. But I stay put. The two guys sit as Ms. Davis remains standing as if she's too excited to finally give me away to be honest. No speaking just direct eye contact is enough for me to catch a weird vibe from them.

Ms. Davis pulls I think his name is. . .Ron no RICK! My bad. Anyway, she pulls him aside to have a deep conversation or whatever with him. But I don't know about you but when you can feel somebody staring at you is the weirdest thing. So I look up to see if I was right and I was. This boy Carlito staring at me not even blinking just looking at me up and down. This got me a little uncomfortable in my ow skin. He had nice skin, nice teeth, and his dimples got me feeln' a way.
"Hi. I'm Carlito. Vanessa?" his nice teeth show and his little mole got me messed up.
I say yes this time and we meet even when the coffee table is between us. I offer a hand shake. But he comes over to me and offers a hug so I take it instead. He whispers something in my ear midway through the hug.
"Da** Vanessa! You know what you're getting yourself into," he asked and chuckles in my ear. He kisses me on the cheek on the side to where Rick and Ms. Davis couldn't see. We break away and now I'm in deep thought about what that could mean.
Ms. Davis brings Rick to her desk to wrap some things up. Carlito and I just sit for a few more minutes. Me avoiding as much eye contact as possible and him dominating me probably thinking how I can be used for his advantage. Ugh, f*ck him, f*ck Rick, f*ck Ms. Davis. F*ck all of them.
* * * * *
I say all my goodbyes to the nearby staff and Ms. Davis which included a hug because after all we've been through it all together. They load my bags into their car as I position myself in a comfy position in the backseat of his Chevy.
"What's this about moving?" I ask as we takeoff.
"Miami. Down for the airport?" Carlito asks me still trying to get eye contact with me but I deny.
