Snap. I whipped my head towards the sound. "Hello." I called out. Scattering. It was heavier than a deer but lighter than a bear. The only animal that suited the footsteps was a human. I laugh, thinking of how stupid they were, wandering into the woods at midnight. It must've been a dare, just like how i got in here. I think. This forest wouldn't let you out once you were in. "Leave while you still can!" I shout. Not like they would listen to me, or even hear me. I'm not even real. I think with a snarl. This was the Shadow Forest. One of a kind. Why was it called the Shadow Forest? Well you couldn't see at all, no matter how many flashlights you brought in. But once you got in you never got out it was like a portal to hell, dark and it smelled of ash. He wanted to warn them. He wanted to warn them all. He had been the first in, his name unknown. He had been forgotten, but only one knew of him. I knew of him, yet I still went in, knowing that if I did come out, my life would change. But I never did. And it was all of his fault. My brother. My brother murdered people for a living, living by a nickname. His other brother was nicer, an the oldest was the wisest. If only Blood hadn't dared him, he would be free.....
Quail's P.O.V
I woke up in Cougars arms, in his room. "God, what time is it?" I say groggily, my voice a whisper. I look over and see that Cougars still asleep. I slowly and carefully get out I the bed and walk down to the dining room. I don't make it to the dining room because I hear voices. Blood and Falcon. "We have to go Falcon. He's out there!" Blood begs.
"No. He is probably dead, and let alone going into the forest." Falcon says stiffly.
"Then I'll go without you. Me and Hawk will go, because apparently you don't care about kin!" Blood snaps.
"Fine then. Go. And I do care, and that's why I don't want you to die." Falcon says, and with that Blood walks down the hall towards Hawk's room. I then walk back to Cougars room and wake him up. "Nooo let me sleeeeeeppp." Cougar mumbles.
"Cougar get up." I tell him. "It's important."
"What?" He says getting up. I look into his eyes, a dark version of the sky. "Vixen; what is it love?" Cougar says calmly. He must have seen the confusion in my eyes. I explain to him what I heard, about Falcon and Blood arguing about getting someone. "I'll go talk to him." Was all Cougar said before he left the room. As I get up to go to the dining room I see Fox. "Hi." I wave. She just snorts and continues walking down the hall. Hawk follows her shortly, not even bothering to look in my direction. I walk out of the room shortly, still stuck trying to figure out who "he" was. Then I herd shouting from the other room, and my blood turns to ice.
