Chapter 3

I heard a commotion downstairs. It was around one am when I heard a crash. Lucas had unlocked my door after lunch so now I had free roam of the house.

I ran downstairs and I saw a man pinned to a wall by gang members. This isn't going to end well, for the guy at least.

"What gives you the right to just bust in our house?" One of the gang members asked.

"You guys owe me money."

"Oh so that gives you the right to barge in our house and act like you own the place. That's not how it works," another gang member said. Next I heard someone shouting from the doorway. Two other gang members pushed a middle aged woman in the room. They both looked a little older but they also look strong.

"Is this the backup you were talking about?" A gang member asked.

"Yeah," the guy pinned to the wall said.

"Well tonight is your unluckiest night of your life. Both of yours." I saw one of the gang members step forward with a knife in his hand. I can't watch this. I turned to leave but someone grabbed my arm and pulled me forward. I looked up and saw Ray smirking down at me.

"I think someone wants to do the honors," Ray said. He shoved me in front of him.

"No, I wouldn't." I tried to fight his hold but he was too strong.

"Oh I'm pretty sure she does." The gang nodded their heads and smirked. I glared at Ray. You accidentally drop a plate on a guys foot so he acts like you tried to kill him.

"No," I shouted. He glared at me then pulled me forward. I was now right in front of the man pinned to the wall. I punched Ray in the side but it didn't affect him. It only affected his attitude.

He pulled my arm back and held it against my back with one hand. And with the other hand he placed it over my mouth. I might be in pain but it's better than killing someone. I didn't fight him because I knew he would just hurt me more.

"Kill them," Ray said to the guy with the knife. I tried to pull my head away by Ray forced my head back. I closed my eyes when the gang member punctured the guy's stomach. I heard the guy cry out in pain but I knew he would have many more cuts by the end of this.

The next thing I heard was a thud and a girl's scream. I shut my eyes tighter as I tried to fight out of Ray's grip. He fought me back and it felt like my arm was going to break.

"Open your eyes, little one. It'll make things for the girl go faster," Ray whispered in my ear. I knew he meant, if I opened my eyes then the girl won't have to go through as much pain.

I opened my eyes which I immediately regretted. The guy was lying limp on the floor and the girl was coughing up blood because she had been stabbed in the stomach.

"End her misery," I said. I held it together until she fell limp on the floor. Ray let go of me but I stood there frozen. Pools of blood were everywhere on the floor. I could see most of the cuts on them. I started moving backwards mumbling no over and over.

Seeing them made me think of my parents. They were stabbed to death when I was seven. I came home with Blake on night to find them dead in our living room. I'll be scarred for the rest of my life because of this.

So, whenever I see someone stabbed I try to get away as soon as possible or I'll start crying uncontrollably. Tonight was my worst nightmare and it happened right in front of me.

I finally got it together enough to run up to my room. As soon as I shut my door I started crying uncontrollably. I was shaking like crazy. I soon started hyperventilating. I didn't even notice when Jason, Lucas, and Ray came in my room.

Lucas pulled me in front of him. He then gently grabbed my hand and put it on his heart.

"You're fine, just breath with me. Your going to be ok, follow my heartbeat," Lucas kept repeating. I finally got my breathing back to normal and I had stopped crying. But I was still shaking uncontrollably.

Lucas pulled me into his side to try and stop my shaking. I rested my head on his shoulder blade as I tried to stop the shaking.

"Mia, I'm so sorry," Ray said. He looked sincere and guilty. I knew he actually felt bad but I couldn't trust him. Jason sat next to me, also trying to calm me down.

"Mia, what happened?" Lucas asked softly.

"Let's see. Two people were stabbed to death in front of me. I open my eyes to see one of them limp and the other one coughing up blood. When they are both dead I'm frozen to the spot and the only thing that's on my mind is my parents. I just hyperventilated and now you're helping me calm down."

"What happened with your parents?" Lucas grabbed my hand and started rubbing it gently. I took a deep breathe then I told them.

"Now I can hardly be around anyone with a knife without shaking. Except my brother," I finished. Ray looked so guilty, Jason had a blank expression, and Lucas gave me a sympathetic look as he pulled me closer to him. I had started crying a little bit again. Lucas wiped away the rest of my tears.

"Mia, I shouldn't have done that to you. I was upset about this morning but I now realize it wasn't your fault. I scared you so you dropped it. I won't hurt you ever again. Will you please forgive me?" Tough guy has a heart? Just kidding, I knew he had a heart somewhere in there. We just got off wrong.

"I forgive you," I said before I gave him a hug. He hugged me back tightly.

"Ok, can I get some sleep now?" I asked smiling.

"Of course. Good night, princess," Lucas said.

"Good night," I said to all of them.

"Good night, little one," Ray said as he shut my door. I snuggled back in bed and fell asleep with a smile on my face.

A/N

I can't even imagine how I would've felt seeing my parents stabbed to death at seven years old. That would be scary.

I'm hoping to change the cover soon but I have to find one. Hope you like the story so far!
