The democratic government is, in theory, made to help people. It is based on the sole fact of "Power to the People". Yeah, not anymore.

Not in 2168.

This era is blinded by the upcoming apocalypse and a twisted government, in which the citizens only care about sex, drugs, and themselves and themselves alone. And the handful that care for others, get absolutely ran over. Literally. Killed, thrown six feet under never to return. It's become a sick, twisted world. It used to be amazing, care free. I wish it had never changed, I guess growing up gave me a new perspective. It changed, and it was for the worse, I guess.

Scientists started experimenting, a couple years back. That is why, or why I think, we went downhill. They called the experiments the "Harleen Trials". The lead scientist, Jonathon Coverton, lost his wife, Harleen Coverton, in a horrific "wrong place at the wrong time" situation. She had been held hostage and brutally shot on site. She had been at a nightclub on her bachelorette party, and the criminals had targeted one of the employees, no where to be found. So they just started taking and shooting people, Harleen and three others were shot, and about twenty people kidnapped. The Police never found the bodies and still to this day haven't.

How I know this? Well, my best friend, Mariana, and I went and were about to enter, just because we felt adventurous and we snuck out and met at our spot, the alley way behind Molly's Bar. And we stood at the exit as we heard gunshots, and then we bolted behind some bushes located outside the club, as they were piling humans into the back of a van. I was frightened, and I think Mariana was as well.

The van had stopped right in front of those bushes, and some of the guys hopped out. I thought we were done for sure. They had to fill the tank with some gasoline from those red gasoline carrier things, and then they poured some on the ground in some shape I never could figure out. It was like a star, with words in the middle. I wasn't planning on finding out what it said, let alone meant. Mariana and I had bolted back home, our safe homes.
