"And I remember that fight, 2:30 a.m.
As everything was slipping right out of our hands
I ran out crying and you followed me out into the street
Braced myself for the goodbye
'Cause that's all I've ever known
Then you took me by surprise
You said I'll never leave you alone"

"Fine have it your way!!!"
I watched as Yssa stormed out of the room, slamming the door hard in the proccess. After a moment's hestitation, I followed her. "Yssa, Yssa! Come back here! Yssa!"
She broke into a run and when I was finally able to catch up to her, we were already outside. The stars twinkled, the moon shimmered and the sky was cloudless, yet, the beauty of the night only seemed to mock our failing relationship.
Yes, failing. I don't think either of us could take anymore of this. We've been fighting nonstop for more than a month already. It wasn't likely that things were gonna work out. If we continue pretending that it would, we'll
end up hurting each other and ourselves even more.
I grabbed her arm. "Yssa! Look at me!"
And she did. "It's over, isn't it, Dale?"
Her hazel eyes that usually sparkled were misty with tears that flowed freely down her cheeks. All my anger and frustration suddenly drained out of me.
I remembered the times we would sit by the water and she would tell me everything. Her deepest secrets and I learn why she tried to lock her heart away, why she was so careful.
And I remembered my promise to her...
I hugged her tightly and let her sob on my shoulders.
" 'We're never gonna make your parent's mistakes.' Remember that promise, Yssa? Your dad was careless, and he let your mom go. But I'm not. I'll never leave you alone."
She put her arms around me as well and I held her for a long time, promising myself that I'd never go this close to losing her ever again.
