"Everyone down to dinner NOW!" was the second time Miss Nut had called the entire home down for tea, but nobody had came. Well, other than Fenella, Grace and Emala. And Kai, the boy that Fenella clings to.

"EVERYONE! DINNER!" the rest followed suit.

Sapph and Bay were in the attic, in their usual hiding spot, where they knew they could keep their most cherished possessions without risk of them being found. Or stolen, for that matter. Sapph looked up from her phone towards Bay, her blonde, wavy hair picked up from the floor but the cherry red ends still spread like a waterfall. Bay's dark teal and shorter hair still hung slightly in front of their face, grey eyes still fixated on her phone. Bay looked up, and the two had a very short conversation without even speaking.

Being stuck in a massive foster home, where there are 4 floors, attic included, means you develop supersonic hearing, so it was really easy for Bay and Sapph to hear the call. However, Bay and Sapph had decided not to go, knowing that if they did they would be 'politely' greeted by the onslaught of insults and belittling from Fen and her 'club', followed by laughter and echoes from the others in the home.

"SAPPHIRE ROSEDON AND BAYLEE HAYLE GET DOWN HERE NOW OR YOU'LL GET NO PHONE MONEY NEXT MONTH!" The voice of Miss Nut boomed up the stairs and, upon hearing the threat, the two hide their things and head downstairs.

"Hey Hay Bale and Pacifier." Emala greets the pair upon arriving in the dining room. A snicker was heard from Fen and Grace, but were met with an only half-angry look from Miss Nut. Everyone in the entire home knows that Fen, Grace and Emala are the favourites with Miss Nut, even though the house leaders weren't allowed favourites. Fen and her 'friends' act like the perfect kids, they get the extra pocket money reward (£15 rather than £10 a week) and have the biggest rooms. But every kid in the care home also knows that The Bitch Club (the name the older kids in the home gave to Fen and her lot.) break all the rules.

Bay just smiled and chirped in a sweet, almost sickly tone, "Hey, Emala!" Emala looked defeated. Bay and Sapph took their usual seats at the table. They were at the end of the tables, as the home uses 3 tables, they were on the highest, being in the older age group. Bay was just 15 a week ago, and Sapph was going to be in a week and a half's time. They had seats at the end of the table, they had rude comments and insults etched into them, and were quite easily the most worn down seats on the table.

The good thing about actually arriving at the start of the meal rather than waiting for everyone to finish first was that there was good, warm food there rather than the worst mushy peas or cold beans, soggy chips and fatty bits of meat. But the pair didn't need the meals, they managed to sneak crisps and 'oh-so-nutritious' snacks into the home and hide them in their room for the night. So Bay and Sapph took their surprisingly good spaghetti hoops and sausages to eat. The rest of dinner went mostly uneventful, perhaps with the odd scuffle over tiny things like who gets the last piece of food or 'who threw the salad on the floor?'

However, there was one particularly bad argument. Peter, an 8 year old who came into the foster home last month who will tell on even the smallest broken rule, was one of the least popular kids in the home. Sapph and Bay should know. One of the many, many rules in the home was that all purchases had to be reported, and that people weren't allowed to take food in the bedrooms, and the two had broken both of said rules, and thought they had got away with it. But Peter sees all... he told miss Nut about how the pair had sweets and were eating them one Tuesday afternoon. The pair were extra careful after that incident. It left a bad enough mark.

So Peter had seen Kai in Fen's room, and as boys and girls aren't allowed in the opposite's bedroom, Peter asked Fenella about the situation.

"Fenella, why did you let Kai into your room?" Peter's annoyingly squeaky voice sounded across the table. Most heads turned to the sound, other than Fen and Kai's. Brooklyn, a 12 year old who came to the home last year, and who has a serious problem with Fenella, smiled.
