Chapter 3
Sapph woke up to the beeping of her alarm at 6:10. She stretched for a bit then hopped out of bed, before getting dressed into her clothes. She was wearing a black T-shirt grey sweatshirt, and black jeans. The school doesn’t allow for anything over-the-top or crazy, so they decided to stay completely safe. Soon, she went to her bed and sat on the freshly made covers. She went on her phone and got the chemistry homework from her bag, a little crumpled and very much due in today. Oops. By this time, Bay had just woken up. Finally she thought.

“Good afternoon” she said sarcastically.

“Oh shut up” Bay replied.

She then started to laugh. Sapph knew she wasn’t serious, and she knew Sapph wasn’t serious. They said stuff like this all the time, after all, they've been best friends, and stuck in the same room, for 4 years now, so banter like this occurs all the time. Sapph supposes that’s how they withstand being stuck here for all that time. They were losing hope of being fostered, they supposed they'd have to get used to it.

She looked up at the time as Bay was putting her socks on. 6:29.

“We’re going to be late for breakfast, Bay.”

“You haven’t done your hair.” Oh. Oops. Bay was brushing her short, sort of wavy, dark teal hair, and Sapph had completely forgotten.

She frantically brushed her wavy blonde hair, dip dyed red at the very ends. She then stuffed her now finished chemistry homework into my backpack, and it crumpled slightly. Oh well. Not like Mrs. Cadum would care, all she cares is that you hand it in, and at least some of the questions are right. They rushed downstairs.

~~~
“And what time do you call this?” Miss Nut shouted, barely two feet from the girls’ faces.
“Uhhh... 6:28?” Bay replied, showing her watch to the crazy bitch stood right in her personal space, and it looked like she was telling the complete truth. In reality, the two girls had set back every clock or time-telling device they had by 5 minutes. Sapph internally cringed, awaiting what was probably going to happen next. An evil smirk was spread across Fen’s face.
“Hmph. Very well. Make sure your clocks are set right next time, and don't be late!” Miss Nut responded, and Fen's face fell. Confusion filled everyone's minds, as everyone, even Bay and Sapph knew that there would have at least been some form of punishment here.
“And we've got some visitors coming on Saturday morning. Everyone act perfect. Bay, Sapph, Fenella and Grace, stay in your rooms and do homework. I don't want any bad impressions, or you'll lose the TV.” Miss Nut droned on.
Oh well, didn't use that anyway. Bay thought.
“And your phones.” She added.
Oh. Everyone who had a phone's faces fell at the last sentence. Fenella smirked.
What's that about? Sapph thought.
“What did the say on their adoption form, miss?” Fen questioned, tossing back her straight blonde hair.
“They said they were looking for a teenage girl, and not much more. I would say they wanted someone who was co-operative and respects their elders. You know, the usual. Nobody wants someone who can’t listen to even basic instructions.” Mr Owen answered. He looked at Fen and Grace on saying the last sentence, making many people stifle a laugh. He covers all the form people send in, which is rather few.
Miss Nut coughed loudly to make herself known.
“I’ll go over the rules again. Stay in your rooms and do homework or study. If you have no homework be quiet and do something else. We don’t want anyone downstairs and if we catch any of you then there will be consequen....”
By this point, Bay and Sapph had grabbed a breakfast bar, downed a drink and left the room.
~~~

“What was that about?”

“What was what about?”

“Miss Nut. She didn’t tell us off for being late like last time.”

“I don’t know. Maybe she wants us to be happy and actually look it when these people come around.”

“Maybe they’re important... or famous?”

“When in a million years would that happen?!”

“Good point. But it’s fun to dream.”

“Yeah.”

“So, you excited for P.E.?”

“Yeah!!! So excited!!! No. It’s hockey. With Fenella.”

“Ugh.”

Several minutes of chatting later, they arrived at school.
