"Owen?" I said in shock. He leaned coolly in the doorway, so effortlessly. He was looking down and slowly looked up to meet his eyes with mine. His clear, calm, blue eyes caused me to smirk, then stumble to ask how he found where I lived. "My mom told me that you lived down the street and I saw your car in the driveway." I had forgotten that he lived up the street from me and I knew my stupidity was plastered on my face. He laughed and continued, "So I'm going to that party tonight and I don't really know people around here except for you," I remained quite as he smiled at me with his perfect, white teeth. Catching up with reality, I replied with, "Oh, umm...," trying to find the words that effaced themselves from my mind. "I was not entirely sure if I wanted to go..." "You should though, you can introduce me to everyone," he said, cutting me off. I chuckled at his proposition, for it was quite preposterous but I was highly considering it. Still thinking it over, he intruded with "I promise to be a perfect gentleman on our first date." My heart fell to my stomach when I heard this, although knowing he was joking, I just smirked and shook my head. "What time does it start?" I asked, trying not to make it noticeable that I was affected by his last remark. "I think it's at 8," he said, now standing evenly between two feet with his hands in his pockets. "Kind of early for a Friday night, no?" He merely shrugged his hulking shoulders and said, "So you down?" "I guess, I mean if I ve to." He laughed at my sarcasm, nodded, and dexterously walked away, only stopping to turn and holler, "I'll pick you up at 8, so we can be fashionably late." I responded with an "Okay," and closed the door. Leaning on it, I looked at the clock that hung on the wall. It was 7:30 and I usually take a good 45-50 minutes to get ready. I raced up stairs and began my hunt for my ensemble for tonight.
I threw the doors of my wardrobe open and begin to search frantically. Pulling some ideas out, I tossed them on my bed. When I managed to get all the contents out of my closet strewn about my room, I decided to put something together. I grabbed a black fitted V-neck and a gray, thin zip up sweater. Only being half dressed, I dived into the sea of clothes to find my favorite jeans. Finally, finding them underneath, I slipped them on and found a belt. Gazing into the mirror, I felt like I was lacking something, so I put on a black beanie. It was on just enough to stay on my head but still let my black hair show. With my new addition, I headed down stairs with my completed outfit. I walked into the kitchen and found a note written by mother.
Blake,
Your Father and I went to a dinner party
for Father's work. We will be home late
tonight, so if your planning to go to that
party, just be safe.
Love Mother.
I didn't even know she left. That would explain why she didn't open the door for Owen. My stomach growled, alerting me that I had not eaten since this morning. Luckily my mother had made me dinner, chicken and rice. I served myself and sat on the counter and ate. After I was finished, I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I was only half way done when the doorbell rang. Quickly I rinsed and felt the cool mint fill my mouth. Before I answered the door, I ran upstairs to grab my phone and wallet. Finally getting to the door, I opened it to see Owen. He was dressed in a V-neck that showed off his chest and abs perfectly, and dark washed jeans. His black hair was dressed up out of his face, which made him look older and made his facial features flow seamlessly. He wore a black leather cuff with a silver metal emblem on it. It looked like an oval with a MH beautifully intertwining together in an elegant calligraphy. "Are you ready?" he asked with one hand in his pocket and the other holding keys. Nodding, I followed him to his car. Getting in, I said "I have never been in a Charger before." "Really? I have had my baby here for two years already," he said getting into his seat and stroking the dash to show his affection toward the machine. He started the car and backed out of the drive way. I watched as he shifted the gears from reverse to drive. Then we headed down the street and on our way to the party.
