Chalice felt a little thrill as they boarded the spaceship that would take them to the space arena. She had never been in space before, but it was very likely that they would all die and all of the others would also die and....ugh, stop it, brain.Stop thinking about how the detailed and precise plan could go wrong.
"Are you ok? You're just standing there looking freaked out, man."
It was Niko, looking concerned. He and Shia had been told the plan after the convention while waiting for Dias to pack up his 'secret lair'.Both of them had also been suspicious of Dias' actions and had been eager to help with a real escape plan. Shia's guns were only to be used as a last result, as the other three were squeamish of killing people. Chalice couldn't speak for Shia, but she acted like she had had a rough childhood, being from Manhattan as she was.She wished that they had time to prepare for the escape, but the first phase was happening that night. They would......Nope, no discussing the plan until we have found the proper headgear so that Dias does not find out what we're planning.
Later that night, in the Aluminum beds they were given in the spaceship, Niko took out a modified version of his original recorder, except that it fit in his pocket. Of course, being smaller, it wasn't as powerful, but it could hear the whole ship.He told everyone to put on their mufflers and not to move, so that the microphone would not hear them and block out important info.He aimed the mic in the general direction of Dias' quarters. There was some interference, and then everyone heard Dias talking to a scared subordinate:
"What the hell did you do that for?"
They all winced. It sounded like he was talking right in front of them. Niko turned down the volume a bit and gave them all headphones so that they wouldn't be heard by the other staff.
"I told you to keep an eye on that Shia girl, and next thing I knew she stole spare parts from the junkyard pile before we left on this spaceship! They could be spying on us THIS VERY SECOND!!!"
They all winced again. They knew in the back of their minds that he was a mastermind, but had hoped that he would be stupid. Shia started to pray, then stopped herself. She didn't want to disrupt the vital mission.
"I'm sorry sir,"sobbed the unfortunate officer."I tho-thought that I had tied her up, bu-but she took me down and escaped.I'm sorry.Truly am."
Dias sighed. The officers were terrible at guarding prisoners.
"Leave, alright? I don't want to see your miserable stinking face in here right now."
"Right, sir." He left. Now everyone knew for a fact that he was alone in his room, and therefore wouldn't talk, but just as Niko was about to turn off the mic, Dias said,
"I am recording this for future generation and other aspiring youth;this is the first part of my master plan for revenge. The first child to enter the Games will be none other than Chalice the Wonder Flier. She will die nicely against my gun-master Clydes. She won't be able to fly fast enough to evade him. Next will be Lynna, just because she has been putting her nose in my affairs. I might as well kill her outside of the Games. After her will be Niko, because I want to save gun-toting Shia for last. She will put up a fight-I must order more guards to make sure she dies. That is it-oh, wait. I forgot. Chalice will be held in a separate cell until her turn, which is in two days so that she doesn't use any tricks to get out. Dias Badgenome out."
They waited until they could hear him snoring, then Niko quietly shut off the mic.
"What are you going to do, Chalice?"
They looked at her expectantly.
"Don't worry-I have a plan."
