The walk to my apartment was only 4 minutes from the office. There was a dog barking somewhere nearby. It can't be Monty because he was with me, being that lifeless like yesterday. I was losing interest from life. I was just living it. I was so tired that I just wanted to eat whatever was arranged and lie on my bed straight for 8 hours. I got apartment 1313B. Weird number but I wasn't really superstitious. I took the keys out and opened the door. The living room came first. My staff really made it look beautiful. Then I went more in. As I was walking, I saw they even re-painted the walls. There was a kitchen inside and the dining was attached to it. I liked it. The food was nicely decorated in the middle of the table. I just couldn't wait.
I quickly went upstairs with my stuff. Wow. The bedroom was probably the size of a soccer stadium. Next to the bedroom, lied my office. It was pretty big too. Thanked Mr. Jones, because he turned the whole room into my unofficial office room. Desktop, projector, necessary documents for the on-going project, everything was there. Great! I left my stuff in the closet and took Monty out of the pet bag. I also took his bed out. I placed him and surprisingly, he wasn't saying anything. What had happen to him?! He was acting like someone froze every part of his body, except for the eyes. I was tired. I thought I should leave him alone and later take him to the pet doctor. I quickly went to the bathroom, took a shower, and went downstairs to eat. I ate till the plates looked clean. Then, I went upstairs and jumped into my bed.
I woke up the next morning with a call from Mr. Jones. I was late! So I got up real fast and rushed to the bathroom. I was in my suit by the 15th minute. On my way, I grabbed an apple from the kitchen. Explained my life. I patted Monty on my way to the door. Normally, he'd lick me. But today, he acted like I did nothing. I ignored it and put my sunglasses on.
My Range Rover rolled into the site by 11:00 A.M. Mr. Jones shook my hand and took me in. The architects and some of the civil engineers were waiting for me to see our future office so far. I liked the designs. The gentlemen asked me to join them for a drink in the evening. I had no other plans so I agreed. They had a temporary office built for the staff till our building was on point. So I asked Mr. Jones about our staff.
"See sir, until we open our official branch in here, we will not be a complete staff. Though, we've appointed couple. Basically, the architects, civil engineers, some of the technicians, couple of other software engineers and your assistant have been appointed," he said.
"Personal assistant? Ah, I see. Another of the gold diggers heh?" I smiled as I released some rings from my Marlboro cigarette. I'm not a crazy smoker, but I do smoke.
"Well, sir. To me, she looks decent than my wife. She's such a quiet and attentive worker you know," he smiled.
"Want me to snitch to Mrs. Jones, sir? You've been taking some notes heh?" I laughed out loud and so did he.
"Ah, not in that way, sir. Well, she's supposed to be here soon," he said.
"Well, what time?" I asked while looking over a file.
"In about 10 minutes," he replied.
"Cooliebeans!" I said.
About 10 minutes later, someone knocked on our door.
"Come in!" I yelled while looking at a file.
I looked up as the person entered. Oh. My. God! What have I seen?! I felt like I've seen the first ever "girl" in my life. Human? No. Probably was an angel. How can someone be so beautiful? She was wearing a shirt tucked into a pant. Completely formal. Yet, her beauty was showering on the floor.
"Hello, sir. I'm Daisy Anemone. Your personal assistant," she said as she came forward with her hand.
"Hi, Sid here," I said as my smoke fell on the floor and I shook her buttery hand. What on the earth? I never introduced myself to someone as "Sid" unless I was really close to them.
"I'm here to look after anything you're concerned on. Anything I can do for the moment?" she asked.
"Would you like to check over these files real quick and point out any mistake they made? I need to make a phone call," I asked.
"My pleasure, sir. Sure," she said with the nicest smile I've seen in my life.
She left the room to go to her desk. To be honest, I had no phone calls to make. I just needed to her out of my eyesight. If she stayed for another second in my room, I'd have probably fainted. She was that pretty! I had seen so many pretty women in my life. Why did I feel so different about her?...
