Wewalked around Diagon Alley with the list in hand. As I looked around at all thepeople, I took a step closer to my mom. I felt for her hand before she foundmine and held it. I held it tighter and squeezed her hand. She sighed. "I don'tknow where we can find some of these things. I mean, your robes? What do theymean robes?" "That's my uniform. It's part of it, I think." She sighed again."Okay. But where do we find them?" "I don't know." I looked down kind of sadly."I don't even know what I'm going to do about my wand." She lets go of me andwraps an arm around my shoulder, pulling me in for a side hug. I leaned my headon her shoulder. We continued walking until we stumbled upon a book shop. Ilooked around and saw a bunch of kids around my age. I saw a large group ofredheads, all varying in age. There weretwo other people with them, a brunette girl with rich, dark caramel skin andpoofy hair, along with a boy with black hair, paler than the girl but darkerthan the two redheads they seem to be talking to. I raised my eyebrow at thestrange bunch. "I guess I can get my books here mama." I said nodding to thestore. "Let's go." She seconded. We walked to the store and were able to weaveour way around the many people inside. "Can I see the list of books?" I askedmy mom. She showed me and then we decided to split up to find them all. I wasroaming the shelves and after I found two of the books, I overheard aconversation. "Mudblood don't flatter yourself. They may call you the brightestwitch of our age, but you are always competing for top marks with me." I heard a boy say. "Atleast she doesn't need her father to fix everything for her. She can take careof things on her own, unlike you." Another said. "Shut it bloodtraitor." I gasped to myselfat how racist the boy was being.

I stepped out from the shelves to see it wasthat group I saw earlier. I swallowed my social anxiety and terror and walkedup to them. "Leave them alone." I said with a stronger voice than I planned. Ablond boy, whom I'm assuming was the one who was saying all of the rudecomments, looked at me. I swallowed and held my books a little tighter. Helooked me up and down and scoffed. "And who are you?" He asked with a smirk."None of your business." I retorted. He nodded a bit and looked back at theblack haired boy, poofy haired girl, and (one of the many) redheaded boy. "Doyou stupid lot know her?" They shook their heads, looking to be in shock of mebutting in. He nodded and looked back at me. "So, let me guess, you're newaround here." "And that's of your concern because?" I asked sassily. Hechuckled. "Darling it's not my concern. But it'll be yours. You're American, aren't you?" I swallowed. "Maybe. None of your concern, blondie." He chuckled at my attempt. "So an American coming all the way here toattend Hogwarts I presume?" "Again, it's none of your business. You just needto stop being a dick to them." I motioned to the trio with my head. I heard oneof them hide a laugh. He sharpened his eyes at me and crossed his arms. "Listenhere darling, you don't know a damn thing about them or me. So I suggest you goback to doing whatever it was you were doing and leave the grown-ups to dealwith this." I scoffed at him. "You're kidding me, right? Well, Mr. Know-It-All,I'm going to ignore everything you said because you are being extremely racist.Do you understand that Muggle-borns and Half-Bloods can't control how they wereborn? And even then, if you discriminate their parents for falling in love andhaving them then you are crossing a whole new line. And let me tell you, youhave another thing coming to you if I hear you discriminate people like thatever again. I am an American and I'vegot a big mouth. I don't shut up if I think it's wrong and you, you arrogantracist bastard, need to watch your back. Got a problem, you deal with me. " Thefour of them were silent for a few moments, the blond with his mouth agape. Ishooed him off with my hand. "Bye bye hun, the grown-ups are going to talk." Ablack boy who was behind the blond the whole time whistled. "She just owned you.""Shut up Blaise!" He glared at memomentarily. "Let's go." After the two walked off, I exhaled shakily.

I lookedat the three people and pushed my hair behind my ear. "Um, s-sorry." I saidshyly. "OH MY MERLIN THAT WAS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER WITNESSED WITH MY OWNTWO EYES!" The redhead exclaimed. "SHE MADE HIM SPEECHLESS I'VE NEVER SEEN HIMBE SPEECHLESS SHE BURNED HIM SO GOOD!" The black haired boy exclaimed with justas much enthusiasm. The girl started laughing. "Sorry about the boys, they canbe a bit childish. But that was amazing what you just did. Thank you." "Oh, itwas nothing, but no problem. I just couldn't believe how racist he was being!""So you are from America?" She asked. I nodded. She put her hand on my shoulder."I've read about what happened. I'm so sorry that happened to all of you." Inodded. "Yeah, well, not much we can do about it now." I gave a sad smile. "OH,where are my manners?" She held out her hand. "Hermione Granger. And you are?""Y/F/N Y/L/N." I said smiling a little. "I'm Harry. Harry Potter." The blackhaired boy said. "Oh, you're Harry. I've been told about you." "Really?" Inodded. "At my old school we learned a small section on Volde- er, sorry. HeWho Must Not Be Named, and you were a part of it." "Wow" "And sorry for my messup. He was the least of our worries so no one really cared." "Well, might wantto watch your tongue around here." The redhead said. I chuckled a bit. "Yeah, Ifigured." "I'm Ron by the way, Ron Weasely." I shook his hand. "Nice to meetyou all." I smiled. "Y/N!" My mom called. "Oh, sorry, I've got to go. Seeyou all soon, hopefully." "You too." Hermione said. I smiled polietly then walked to my mom. "What was that all about?" She asked. "Nothing. Just a rude person I had to deal with." She smiled a bit. "That's my girl." I handed her the two books I gathered as she set them on the counter to pay for them. I exhaled. Maybe I'll be okay here.
