"Thanks mommy!" A six year old girl cheered as she walked around with her beloved parents. They had taken her to a movie because it was her birthday.
"Well it's your birthday sweetie. It's not a problem." Her father said with a sweet smile. The little girl yawned in exhaustion. For she had a long day, but it went by all to fast.
The small family got in their car and happily drove home with their sleeping daughter.
"Honey, wake up. We're home." The girls mother said sweetly, trying not to upset the child. The child yawned and nodded her head. Her father helped her with the seatbelt and carried her to the door of their apartment.
The father reached for the door knob when the door opened by itself. There stands a tall man with cold brown eyes and a sharp scruffy face. He holds a giant tan bag that held a wonder of expensive things.
"Well, now that you've seen me. I can't have you running to the police now can I. I'll start with the runt." The tall man says pointing his gun at the girl. She crumples into a ball scared for her life. She awaits the impact but it never comes. She heard the gunfire.
The girls body unfolds and her eyes meet to a horror. Her mother was shot in place of her. The child screamed at the sight. "Damn woman. I'll just have to shoot again." The man said, again poiting his gun at the child.
The girl awaits the pain again. It never comes. She heard the gunfire a second time. This time it was her father that paid. The child screamed again.
"Run... Midnight... run." Her father said as tears streamed down his daughters face. "Y-yes daddy." The child said. Then taking off as fast as her little legs could go.
"You little bitch!" The man called after her. She kept running as fast and as far as she could go. The girl turned into a dark allyway to rest. Her breath was heavy and quick. The girl passed out from pure exaughtion.
The next morning she woke up to the sounds of screaming children and her head aching. A lady in a blue dress comes up to her. "You're finally awake. Now go clean the dishes." The lady says. "B-but I don't know h-" The girl starts but her words silence with the ladys hand hits her face leaving a red mark. "Did I ask if you knew how? Go clean them." The lady says sternly poiting to the kitchen.
The girl gets off the bed with her head and face hurting like crazy. The girl walked to the kitchen and stepped on a stool which made her just tall enough to reach the sink. "Do you need help little one?" A sweet voice said behind the girl. "Mhm." The girl answered.
The sweet voice belonged to a girl who was about ten years old. She had red hair and bright green eyes. The girl learned so many things from her. Like how to read and write. She also learned that the place she was at was an adoption center.
In a few short months the red haired girl got adopted. "Bye Midnight. I'll always remember you." The girl says just before she has to leave. "I'll remember you too Grace!" The girl said with tears in her eyes. "Don't cry. We'll see each other again. I promise." The girl said wiping away the child's tears.
As soon as the girl left the head lady of the house pointed to the kitchen and the girl knew exactly what she ment. Dishes.
The child decided that when she was ten she would leave too. Even if she wasn't adopted.
On her birthday four years later she ran away. Stealing and living on the streets.
It was when she was thirteen that she got an offer to go to a school. If she went to this school she would get paid ten dollers a week. She never went to middle school but was a verry quick learner. She took the offer.
She bought a small studio to live in and she took a job at a deli. She now is in her last year of high school just waiting for it to be over.
The prologue is over. Noe its time for the real story to begin.
