Chapter 7
(Ebennie's POV)
I raced down the staircase of the arena, right into the practice room. Andi, Kenna, and Ellie all sat lounging and chatting away.
"Guys, this show is starting in-" I took a pause to check my watch, "15 minutes. We don't have time to just sit around, what if the soundboard breaks again? I know you guys checked multiple times but I can't help but not think of the horrible outcomes of this show." My words seemed to fall out of my mouth, slipping away faster and faster out of my mouth, pouring out into the free air amongst us. "Ebennie, calm down. We just checked, it's all good. Guess who we found in the crowd?" Kenna said. I knew a lot of people were coming today, but I didn't really have the time to spit out answers while they laugh as I give up. I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned around
to see who was bothering me. In front of me, stood Amanda Clifford, wife of Michael Clifford, and a great friend to all of us. Amanda smiled and gave me a half hug. She was too distracted by Kenna's cat, Luna. "She's so cute!" Amanda squealed, hugging onto the cat. I checked my watch. 7:00 already. "Guys the show's already starting." I said. There was a tone of rush and panic in my voice, even I could hear it. "Ebs, chill. We don't have to watch them perform tonight. We see the same show every night. Let's just relax today. Mandy's here." Andi said. I looked to the door, and then to the group. I do admit, all I wanted to do was relax and catch up with Amanda, but if something fails with the show we're screwed. I shrugged it off and sat down next to them. They all patted me on the back, proud of me for actually doing something fun.
"So Amanda, what have you been up to?" Ellie asked.
"Well you know, working at home and stuff. Oh, and hanging out with Brendon Urie. He's in town!" Mandy said. I zoned out after she was done talking. I haven't heard that name in a year. It's surreal to hear it again. Once his name was sweet to me, it was cherries in the spring, but now it's vile, and I can't tell the group the reason at all. He broke my heart into pieces and I can't tell anyone because he'll do it again. They continued talking, until Kenna said something about me.
"Ebennie, are you oka-" Mid Sentence, Kenna was cut off. There was a sharp noise coming from the stage.
"Oh god. Come on guys, we gotta go." I said. The five of us raced to the stage, almost running into certain crew members walking around. "We gotta go backstage. I think a fuse in the soundboard cut off." Andi called. We all followed her, pushing our way in and out of equipment. Kenna got there first, laying down to exam it.
"Just like I thought. The wire that makes the entire system stable is cut. Andi, you think you can fix this?" Kenna said. Andi shook her head no. Ellie ran her fingers through her hair, "Well, we gotta call off the show. Reschedule." She said. We all agreed the best person to go out and tell everyone, was Kenna. Her husband is the one performing after all. We peeked behind the walls of the stage and watched her. As soon as she came out, there was a roar from the crowd. We're all pretty well known, but it makes sense why a crowd like this would be excited to see her. I'm a popular YouTuber, but I was the manager for Twenty One Pilots and Fall Out Boy. Andi, is a world known artist and an amazing mechanic, but she's pretty reserved and quiet. Most artist adore her work, but barely know who she is. Ellie, is a famous Broadway performer, so she knows ins and outs of stage lighting and set up. Her latest role was Heather Chandler in Heathers The Musical, which she won many awards for. Kenna is a guitarist, her band was pretty popular, but the lead singer left. She also writes the music to a lot of popular songs, including Fall Out Boy and Twenty One Pilots. And last but not least, Amanda, who is a popular children's author and the wife to Michael Clifford. Kenna wrapped everything up, and rescheduled it for two days from now, which was best. The crowd took it really well, except there were a few people booing. We all went back to our hotel rooms after that, recovering from the horrendous event.
