He was 15. A freshman, a quiet one at that. He barely spoke to anyone or did a lot, so no one expected much from him. No one knew who he was or where he came from. He just kind of appeared. The only person that knew him was Beth Finch.

He had dark and a "Modified Skrillex" hairstyle along with dazzling dark blue eyes. He'd come to school wearing dark skinny jeans or cargo shorts and a sleeveless hoodie. Sometimes he'd wear a bandana on his neck. Most would say he's just another one of the school's hipsters or jocks, he looked a bit athletic.

His name, Nathan Smith. And this is his story and how he changed Riverside Kingdom High School.

Nathan POV

"Wake up, Nathan." I could hear a voice echo in my head. Telling me to wake up. It's a little disoriented but I can tell it's hers. "..Beth" I murmur, trying to call out to her. "Wake up." She says again. I can see her now along with darkness. "Why is it so dark in here?" I ask her. "Wake up, Nathan." She says for the third time, a little bit louder.

"Why do you keep sayi.." Before I can finish my sentence, I can see Beth fading away..  "Beth? What's going on?" Then, the next thing I know is that the person in front of me is no longer Beth, but instead my best friend. "Wake up, dumb ass." He says, much louder than Beth.

"What's going on, Jonathan? Why do you guys keep saying that?" I ask him. "Seriously. you guys are starting to creep me out."

"Wake up! The longer you stay here, the sadder Beth becomes!" He was yelling now.

"Beth? Why? She's happy isn't she?" I'm getting tired of this non-answers.

Everything was quiet for a few moments, until I hear Jonathan chuckle."Heh, you selfish bastard! Think you can go around and take any girl and think they're happy with you?" Then. I see Beth appearing next to him. To my surprise, she wraps her arm around him and he wraps his rests his arms on her shoulders.

"Beth?" I see tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry Nathan. I'm scared of you."

"What's wrong Beth? Why are you scared of me?"

"You hurt..." Suddenly her words become inaudible. "Huh?" I ask her. They're fading. I call out to them, only to see Jonathan smirk and Beth get closer to Jonathan. "No, no, no, no, no, no." I repeat the same word over and over again as I slowly walk to them, reaching a hand out. Then they're gone.

I wake up screaming. My hand still reaching out. I pull my hand and covered my face. Just another nightmare. It wasn't the first time I had these nightmares. I thought I have gotten used to them but each time it felt like a chainsaw digging through my flesh. The worst thing that can ever happen to anyone have their wounds salted.

I sigh and look over to my side at my clock. 8 o'clock. Crap. I'm going to be late. Another worst thing that can happen to anyone: to not be able to wake up from a nightmare. I head to the bathroom and do my business. I exit the bathroom and put on my khaki cargo shorts and a black and grey striped v-neck. I scruff up my hair, attempting to fix it and put on a beanie. I grab my phone and my backpack and head to the kitchen.

"You're going to be late, honey." I hear my mom say as soon as I enter. "I know. My bad." I head over to the kitchen table and eat my breakfast.

"Did you have another one of those nightmares?" My dad asks causing me to wince a little.

  "Something like that."

"Hey, if you want to get rid of those nightmares, try fixing your mistakes."

"I know, but I don't know how to do that.." Now I'm just playing with my food. Great.

"Isn't basketball tryouts tomorrow?" My mom asks.

"Yeah, but I don't think that'll help." I'm still playing with my food. "I should go. I'm going to be late. I'm walking." I grab my stuff and leave the house. Geez, parents just know how to make their son feel better. I stare at the ground. Look at me, I hurt someone and it's tearing me apart.

I hear a car honk and I look up. It's my dad. "Hey, pal. Why would you walk instead of getting dropped off when you're going to be late?"

  "Uh."

"Come on, Nathan. I'll drop you off." I get in the passenger seat and  sit quietly as my dad drives to the school. It was awkward for me until we finally reached the school. Thank God I'm not late yet. "Thanks, dad." I mumble as I leave the car. I can tell he was smiling. "Nathan. Don't you ever let your mistakes destroy your future." It was my turn to smile, even just a little.

I walk throught the crowded hallways and to my locker. I grab my textbooks and look at a picture of Beth taped behind the locker door. What was up with that nightmare? I hear the bell ring and head to class. At least I'm not late.

As I enter homeroom, something catches my eye. And as I can tell, I have caught her eye too, since she walks up to me. "Nathan." She smiles as she said my name. "What are you doing here, Beth?"

"Why? Is there something wrong with wanting to be with your boyfriend?"

Oh yeah, we're dating. I guess I got myself caught up with that nightmare. "Heh, of course not. But I thought we we're going to be in a long-distance, since I moved all the way over here.

"We'll I wasn't very happy without you." I was shocked with what she had said. She was not happy without me. Damn nightmare. Bringing me down for nothing. I smiled. "Same goes for me." I walk up to her to embrace her.

Our little moment was interupted when our teacher walked in and cleared his voice. "Ugh-hm. No hugging in my classroom and get to your seat." I looked around and noticed we were the only ones standing. We heard the class chuckle and went to our seats. We sat next to each other,

"I am your homeroom  teacher, Mr. Harris. I will also be your algebra teacher. I will not be easy nor hard on you. It will all depend on how you act and how you take responsibility for those actions. And just to let you all know, tomorrow is when you can sign up for any club activities.."

The rest of the way went on like that. Nothing but introductions. I only had 3 classese with Beth: Homeroom, spanish and history. I was a bit upset that its only 3 out of 7 classes, but oh well. I haven't told her about my nightmares nor did I say that I dreamt of her, because that would just be strange. When I got home, I had told my mom that Beth was at my school. She was worried at first but then got over it. I told her that she doesn't have to be worried and that I'll fix everything. After that, I went to my room and went straight to bed. I fell alseep as soon as I laid down.
