It was late at night and I could not sleep at all. I woke up in a cold sweat. I couldn't take it anymore. I got out of bed, put my socks and sneakers on, and slowly crept down the stairs. I walked outside into the cool spring air.
I breathed in deeply to inhale all of the spring smells. Flowers, trees, creek water that comes from the bridge a mile down the road. I only had a short time before my parents woke up and realized that I wasn't there.
I started walking down the sidewalk, past my neighbor's house, and onto the grass. My long curly hair flowed with the wind.
I reached the school, and I was hesitant to walk any further.
All of a sudden, I felt something whoosh behind me. I whipped around to see what it was.
"What the...!?" I muttered. Something laughed, and that's when I knew I was in danger.
I quickly sprinted home, faster than I ever was before. Past the bridge, the barber shop, neighbors' houses, and I was finally home.
I quickly slammed open the door, closed it, and sprinted upstairs without making a sound.
I ran into my room and looked at myself in the mirror.
Same long curly dark brown hair. Same hazel eyes. I started brushing my hair to calm myself down.
At that same moment, I got a text from my best friend, Abbey.
