He took one step forward and plunged the dagger into my chest. Everything went dark. A bright light burned my eyes as I struggled to sit up. My mind started to rush as I realized my arms were strapped to the bed. I see a dark figure hovering over me, when my eyes finally adjust I realize it's my mother hovering over me. I look around and see that I'm in a hospital. She tells me a few police officers are going to ask me a few questions. I knew from the look in her eyes this was not a good thing. Mom stepped out of the room.Three large men walked in. All of them had this extremely serious look on their faces which made me feel very uneasy. One of the men asked, "What's your name dear?" I could tell by the expression he was making that he already knew the answer to that question but I answered anyways, "My name's Lux Abano, why? What's going on? Am I in trouble?". One of the officers whispers to the other, it was a slight mummer. I couldn't make out what they were saying but I could tell it was no good.
The first officer turns back to me, "No dear you're not in any trouble at all, we just need to ask you a few questions about your attacker." He pulls out a notepad.
"Okay what did they look like?"
"I'm not sure. Um, male, dark brown hair, maybe handsome? I'm a bit hazy on the details."
"Is that all you can remember?"
"Yes."
"Okay, we'll talk to you again after you recover to see if you can remember any useful information."
I went to sleep almost instantly after the nurse brought me my dinner. It was one bowl of nasty soup and one large glass of ice water, the soup was absolutely disgusting. But I still ate it because I was starving and I pretty much choked down that glass of water trying to loose the flavor of the soup.
Suddenly I could see bright lights passing by me through my eyelids. I heard lots of chatter surrounding me. I opened my eyes to see what was going on. My mom was pleading with the people pushing my bed, she was screaming, "PLEASE DON'T DO THIS SHE'S ALREADY BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH! SHE'S MY DAUGHTER, SHE COULDN'T HAVE DONE WHAT YOU'RE SAYING SHE HAS!". I felt my bed going up onto a truck, then I heard a man yell "Take her to the Salem asylum". I knew then I was being taken to the old Oregon state insane asylum. I quickly fell asleep again once I was in the truck. It was as if something was making me sleep when I wasn't tired whatsoever.
I woke in a blurred haze with a loud white noise ringing in the back of my head. Once I could see again and the ringing stopped I looked around the room I was in. A small petite girl sat with her knees to her chest in the bed across from me. The room had one small blue light at the other end of it, white padded walls and padding on every edge of furniture. I looked back over to the girl and asked her name. Out of nowhere she began a high pitched scream at the top of her lungs.
A nurse came rushing in wearing a red striped uniform and stabbed the girl in the thigh with a long needle she pushed a strange clear slime into her veins. Suddenly she stopped screaming and then spread a loopy grin across her face. "Now isn't that better Mildred?" the nurse said in a cold tone.
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?" I screamed.
"Oh dear, Lux do you need an attitude adjustment as well? Because that can be arranged."
Suddenly I remembered what the man said to the driver of the truck when I was taken here, "Take her to the Salem asylum!" I knew then that I had to watch what I said or did in here or I could be stuck in here forever.
"No mam, I apologize. At first I didn't realize you were helping Mildred not hurting her." I knew I was lying right through my teeth and that little fake grin I flashed after I said that was bull shit. But I figure it's the only way to not be drugged to hell in here.
