"The principal's asked that I be your personal tour guide till you find your feet here".
"Oh".
What a tour guide.
"Hi, Brian", Chloe's voice made me aware of the fact that we weren't the only ones in class.
"Hey,Chloe" Brian greeted as he turned to give her a smile and at the same time I turned to watch the exchange.
My heart sank.
She was watching him with the same expression I had when he wasn't looking-well a more perfected one but still the same.
I shrugged it off and continued on with what I was doing before which was...nothing actually.
I could never compete with that.
Mr.Rivers waltzed in five minutes till the end of class, wrote the assignment on the black board and strolled straight out, blonde ponytail bouncing right behind him.
I promptly copied down the work given to us and stared out the window for the rest of the minutes I was left with while the rest of the class turned the room into a small circus with no ring masters.
As soon as the bell rang there was a stampede headed straight for the door and I waited for the rest of the class to move out before I gathered up my things to leave.
Brian was leaning on the door frame in all his Greek god-like glory.
"Let's get a move on princess",he said with a cheeky grin as he offered his arm. I was just about to link up when-
"Can I tag along? My next class is history, though it's on the other side of school, Mr. Sylvester is a lazy slob and won't be in for the next 30 minutes or so", Chloe had detached herself from her fans and was now standing in front of us with a shit-eating grin plastered on her face.
"Sorry Chloe, I was informed to take Mirah on a little tour first before getting her to class...so it would take some time".
At least that was what he was meant to say-that's what I thought he would say but noooooooo, he went on to be like-
"Sure, but why you want to bore yourself to death listening to me go on about the wonders of our school is beyond me".
I watched as Chloe gave Brian a sly, lazy grin before taking the arm originally meant for me,forcing me behind him so that I had to go and stand by his other side.
"Shall we?",Chloe's voice turned as sweet as honey as she snuggled up to Brian some before we started walking.
He talked about the school, the extracurriculars, its history and the like. With anyone else it would have been one long and boring history lesson but with Brian it was fun, lively and I almost forgot that on the other side of him there was Chloe snuggling up to him so close that it'd take a freaking crowbar to pry her from him.
Almost.
Then she started giggling and it all went to bloody hell. Suddenly everything he said was funny, I swear he could be like 'the moon is round' and she'd go 'hahahaha you're so funny'. I couldn't even get a good word in before she cut me off and took the whole conversation and did a complete 360 degrees with it. Sure, Brian was pretty sweet with him trying to bring it to me every now and then when the queen bee had finally run out of steam but she always found a way to turn it around so that it'd be focused on her and whatever she was talking about at the moment.
We reached art class much to my relief and Chloe's clear disappointment.
"Thanks Brian", I said with a smile, hiding my irritation as I watched Chloe siddle up to him again.
"No problem", with almost visible force, Brian pried her fingers off him and gave her a kind smile.
"Bye Chloe".
"Bye Brain", she said warmly. He turned round and started walking back to where he came from.
"Isn't He gorgeous??!!!", Chloe squealed and promptly grabbed my arm as soon as he was out of earshot.
"I guess so...", I murmured, trying as much as possible to hide my annoyance, I gingerly removed her fingers from my arm. She must have noticed that I did not share in her enthusiasm because immediately her eyes softened and a ruby hue crept up her cheeks.
"I'm soooooooo sorry Mirah, I didn't mean to monopolize your tour like that but I guess I've had the biggest crush on Brian now for as long as I can remember and I saw this as an opportunity to get to know him more and for him to notice me a little, it sucks to be invisible".
Oh he noticed you alright.
And what exactly does a girl like Chloe know about being invisible?
"You understand right?", she asked/pleaded while giving me this puppy dog stare.
"I guess so" I murmured, shrugging a little. She squealed while giving me a gigantic bear hug that nearly crushed my ribs.
"It's okay....Chloe...Chloe you're suffocating me", I patt her shoulders to let her know that she should let up and she released me abruptly, pushing a stray lock behind her ear.
"If there's anything you want to know about or anything you need, tell me..oh and you'll be sitting at my table during lunch since you don't have anywhere to sit", she gave me a friendly smile and spun around, heading in the opposite direction Brian had gone.
Well that was one problem down, I spun around on my heels to where the green door was and sighed. The ice-cold fingers of fear had a firm grip on my throat and was slowly choking me to the point where I couldn't breathe.
I squeezed my eyes shut firmly before I proceeded to count to ten in my head, all the while taking deep breaths just to calm myself down a little.
"Well...here goes nothing" I said to myself before quickly taking a hold of the door knob, turning it and pushing it inwards before I could talk myself out of it.
