It was Friday creeping into the afternoon as I made it back to my dorm. Unlocking I seen Quincy sprawled out over the bed. I was just coming back from my 8 o'clock class and I was dead tired. Even though I wanted to sleep I couldn't stop thinking about Marcus. I ran into him on my way back here and I was freaking out. I haven't seen him since the last time we seen each other. Quincy would have to go soon because of their out of town basketball game. The game isn't until Saturday but it would be too much to travel that far and play in the same day.
Putting my stuff down and kicking off my sneakers I thought about last night and how I needed to control my emotions. Quincy might be already suspecting something is wrong. Maybe I just need closure on the situation so I can move past it on my own. I shook my head saying a quick prayer to give me strength before nudging Quincy to wake up. 'What's up?' He mumbled.
'Are you packed?' I watched as he curled his lips into a thin line shaking his head. He stretched but didn't move out of bed. 'Then come on.' I scattered through my drawers to throw him a t-shirt and some sweats. 'I'll wash your clothes from last night. Don't worry about it.' I commented as I got comfortable on the bed.
He slowly moved around the room getting himself together. I turned on my Bluetooth speakers playing some up beat songs to get him going. About 20 minutes later Quincy came out the bathroom putting his shoes on,'Let's bounce.'
There wasn't much to pack considering he'd only be gone for a day and a half so after he packed. We loaded the car and rode to the cafe to get something to eat.
'What was up with you last night? You need to vent about something?' He asked after we sat down. My stomach churned and I heard my heart beat through my ears. Shit
I cleared my throat shifting in my seat, 'I'm fine now. I don't want to kill my vibe so I'll tell you when you get back.'
'Why when I get back. That's a long time.'
'I don't know Q,' I stated messing with my food, 'I'll feel more comfortable.'
'I don't know why you on that bullshit cuh.' He mumbled getting up. My eyes followed him as he threw his food away walking out the door. A unnoticed tear escaped from my eye as guilt took over my body. Wiping my face clean of tears I took a deep breath following suit- throwing my food away and walking out the door. I sped walked to the car seeing Quincy sitting on the car laughing with some dudes I didn't recognize.
Without speaking I just slipped in the car waiting on him. The time was ticking but he knew had places to be so I wasn't going to warn him. I got on snapchat taking a picture I'd probably delete later.
I finished watching my friends stories when I heard door clicking signaling Quincy was getting in the car. I started up the car driving towards the bus which was in front of the gym as well as majority of the basketball team.
