Chapter Three: The Dormitory

With my heavy suitcases dragging along behind me I take my first steps toward the big metal doors that had metal detailing welded into it. As I go to knock on the door when they swing open by themselves. "This is some horror movie crap Val.."

"Di.. I don't wanna go in.." I pushed her a little bit as a joke and she screamed. All of a sudden a huge buzzer sound goes off and me and Val fall onto our butts. I feel anxiety filling up inside me and I want to punch something, I halfway curl into a ball 'were gonna die, love you ma..' I thought to myself. Something touched my shoulder and I jump up thinking it was a caterpillar which I'm deathly afraid of, and as I jump I hit my head on someones chin.

"Ha! Are you okay?" A boy with beautiful blue eyes and blond quiff hair. He kindly laughed at me, I guess and helps me up. I look to my left and Vi is still shaking on the floor, she's a very jumpy child. 

"Yeah, I'm okay, she'll be fine soon enough.." I say with a polite smile and brush myself off. "I'm Diamond Toro, new. And that's Valentine Ariete, also new."

"I'm Joseph Gunoi, I can show you around later if you want, if you don't fall and get a concussion in that time period." He smiled. So i guess it wasn't supposed to be mean?. Suddenly Valentine jumps up and grabs Joseph by the hand and she starts shaking it vigorously.

"Nice to meet you!! Um but can you walk us to our dorm room? It's very scary.." Val said using her flirty eyes which usually has an effect on everyone.. except him for some reason..

"Sure I had to drop by someones dorm anyway, My best friends, Catea, Mic, and Murdarie, you would actually probably really like them! I could introduce you, seeming as you are new?"

"Sure! That sounds real cool!" We all walked in to a long dark corridor with creepy paintings of old head masters that all looked very constipated. 

"So where are you guys from?" Joseph asks still looking ahead.

"Where from Italy.." The whole walk was about and hour long nothing was really said just friendly getting to know each other, Joseph is pretty cool. We were finally at our dorm number 729.

"Thanks, Seph. Let us just put our stuff away and well text you, or something. What's your digits?" I ask handing him my phone.

"Sure, here. See you then!" He says slinking into the crowd. I turn to Vi who is already arranging her things. 

"I like him, he's totally gay though." I say to Vi as I slam one of my heavy suitcases onto the empty bed to the left of the room, Vi was already decorating the right side with her tree stickers she bought. 

"Yeah, I think so also, my flirty eye didn't work." She made a fake pout and laughed, then turns to finish hanging her decorations. I look at my blank wall and begin hanging up my band posters and all my Polaroid pictures from last summer. About an hour later I collapsed on my bed. 

"Done, Finally. Vi? What are you doing?" I look over and she's folding my clothes into two separate piles of light clothes and dark clothes.

"You are so unorganized, it annoys me so very much. Like when are you gonna get your life together." She said rolling her eyes, patronizing me as usual. "Now pack this all away. Now. No later, not after. Now." She said fixing her own clothes into piles.

"Yes mother." I began to fold my clothes away, When my phone begins to ring, a little ping of hope grew inside me thinking it was my mom, or Luke, but it was my brother. Great, I have to deal with this already.

"Hello?" I said there, was a lot of background noise i wasn't really sure what it was.

"Hi, ma'am, you were listed as emergency contact on this boys phone, I would like you to remain calm, but the young man has overdosed. Are you in the area?" Said a rugged voice. My stomach sank all the way down to my feet, I could no longer breathe, everything was spinning, I fell to the floor. "Ma'am?" the rugged voice asked, trying to confirm I was still there, I couldn't speak. 

"Um, I'm in Italy, at the moment, I'm his sister, Ill give you my mothers number.." I told the man my mothers number and hung up. I lid on the floor trying to feel the cold of the ground, but I was numb.

"What happened? Is everything okay with Miles?" Val asked sitting besides me.

I cough, close my eyes, as if it was all a dream when i wake up everything will be okay, Ill be in Luke's arms and Miles would just be upstairs playing stupid video games. "Miles OD'd. He's at the hospital thats all I know." I opened my eyes and my world came crashing down, then everything went black, an abyss of nothing.
