Camero's POV
•♤•
"This is the fourth kill this month
detective Camero. We believe it is by the same guy judging by the slits from ear to mouth, deep slash wounds on her breast and missing tongue. The perp took off all of her fingernails and sodomized her but there wasn't any vaginal trauma. She is in her mid twenty's with name unknown."" Well, I would ask if there was any sign of a struggle but judging by her fingernails I think I already know the answer. Any idea where she is from or how she ended up here? "
"Seeing there wasn't a purse, we have no identification or where abouts but looking at her collard shirt or what's left of it, I suspect something professional. We are going to have to run some tests before we can go along with anything."
Nodding in his direction. " Thanks Diaz, call me when you've got something."
"Will do boss." Diaz replies while covering up the body. "Oh and before I forget, we also found another one of these."
Holding up a deep red colored piece of paper there was a message written.
How many more have to die until you capture this raptured soul?
"Was this found in her as well?" Taking a closer look at the coal black ink.
Diaz nodded putting the note back inside of the evidence bag.
I still don't understand why we haven't caught this bastard yet. I am so sick and tired of seeing women being killed like this and we aren't even on his tail.
On my way down to the Precinct I grab a pack of smokes to relieve some tention. I never smoked as heavy as I did now but I picked it up after my mother died. Instead of drinking on the job, I can smoke on the job. I rather smoke like a damn chimney rather than be a drunken asshole any day. I head inside to see if we picked up any leads.
" Bambino, what's the scope? Did Diaz call back or no?"
Bambino sits back in his chair and shakes his head. " No, not yet but I think we are on to something after these past few months."
Giving the side eye I take my jacket off and place it on my chair. "Oh, this is just great! Lay it on me." Taking a seat, I loosen up my tie. If we finally have a lead on this son of a bitch, I call the first piece of the pie.
"Our last three victims all ended up with cuts on their mouths, tongues missing, slashes on the breast and fingernails gone." Bambino states while bringing up the pictures on the monitor.
I wipe my face with my hand and blurt out. "Okay, and your point is?"
Bambino chuckles while changing the picture. " My point is, the markings and abuse wasn't the only thing they had in common. It seems as though our perp likes to prey on business women. From the last three victims, they all worked in a office. Same markings and a note tucked inside of their throats. Maria Polas, Barbra Manchez, Carmen Pane and unknown. Carmen and Barbra worked in the same building but on different floors and Maria worked in a office downtown." Bambino states pointing to the three woman placed on the screen.
" So, the only two building where he might strike is the one across from lonefield park and groundview." I state.
Taping my pen against the desk, I close my eyes. If I were him where would I be? I start to ask myself these questions so I can get a better insight as to where he might pick up another one of his victims. Where would I be able to to hide their screams and be unseen? Pictures of warehouses cloud my mind and then it hits me.
"Do we have any footage from security tapes with our last three victims leaving their offices?"
Bambino starts to pull up the video files. " Yes, but the only thing we have is them leaving. No one is around the victims at the time of their disappearance."
He pulls up Barbra's case and puts the tape on. As I'm watching the garage security tape I noticed a small jump in the frame. "Whoa, play it back real quick."
I quickly get closer to the screen and trail my finger from where she was walking to when she got inside of her car. Turning twords chief I look at him with confusion.
"Did you not notice the jump in this frame when she starts up her car?"
Bambino replays the video once more.
" Why haven't we noticed this in the beginning? How many times was this video looked over bambino?"
"About 3 times." Scratching his head in confusion. " Let me check the other videos and I'll bring up last years cases as well. I think we've had him for a long time now, we just didn't see it."
