" Dad?" Calling out as I held the phone to my ear.

" Mia, is everything alright?" He responds.

Tucking a fallen strand of my brown hair behind my ear. "Uh, I'm going to be late to the office today because Lucas is in the hospital." Getting into the elevator I press the 6th floor.

" Yes alright that's fine, see you when you get here." He says bluntly.

"Dad, aren't you going to ask what happen or if he is alright? He is your step son for godsake." For reasons unknown my father hasn't liked my husband since the day he met him and that was 3 years ago. He constantly tries to avoid Lucas as much as possible with no explanation at all.

Clearing his voice at the other end of the line. "Listen Mia I have to go and take care of this meeting. I'll see you when you get here." With that, he hangs up.

Dammit! I hate when he does that. I just want him to realize there is another man in my life now instead of him. But I'll always be a daddy's girl.

As I walk down the hallway I see the nurses station. "Hi, I'm looking for my husband Lucas Koreum."

" Room 302 to your right dear." Giving a warm smile as she points the way.

Giving a not so loud knock I open the door. There is Lucas attached to all of these machines and it crushes my heart. Tears start to peak from the corner of my eyes as I make my way towards him. Grabbing a chair I sit and take his hand. I start to Softly brush my thumb along side his knuckles.

" Lucas? Lucas can you hear me? I'm here for you baby. I'm so sorry this happened to you." Tears begin falling down my cheeks as I lean over to kiss his.

I am startled as I hear a knock at the door. There stands a man with dark blonde hair and gray eyes. He is wearing a plain white shirt with jeans and his hair is slicked back.

Ajusting myself I clear my throat.

" Excuse me, I think you have the wrong room." I gave him a stern look, I didn't want to be like those woman who can not keep it in their pants whenever a good looking guy happened to be around.

A smile crept over his face showing his perfect white teeth. " This is Lucas, yes? I came here to drop these off." Carrying in a bouquet of flowers he sets them on the nightstand.

I nod my head in a kind gesture as well as a confused one. " I'm sorry I didn't quite catch who you are."

Stretching his hand to shake mine. " I'm Joseph Cline, I work with your husband. Don't tell me, your name is Mia right?"

I smile and return his handshake. "Yes, how did you know?"

" He talks about you all the time but he never mentioned how beautiful you were." He smirked.

I sighed. "Oh does he now and thanks. It was nice meeting you." I waved in his direction as I took my seat. I hope he received the message of the quick dismissal.

" Nice meeting you too Mia. Hope to see you again someday." As he closes the door on his way out I take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Lucas never told me how weird his co-workers are.
