Chapter 2

4 months, 25 days later

It was just turning dark when they got to the hotel. Aiden, being the romantic man that he was had a horse and carriage waiting for them when they got off the plane. It nearly brought tears to my eyes if it wasn’t for the fact that I was so worried about my dress that I had yet to find. With the wedding being only a week away I was almost frantic.

“Are you sure everything’s ready?” I asked my future mother-in-law.

It was my fifth time asking in the last half hour and I could tell I was wearing on her. But I just couldn’t help but worry.

She gave me a patronizing look and said “Everything is ready. The banners, the flowers, the Dresses.” She put more power into that word then was necessary but I let it slide. I had other things to worry about. Like my Dress.

“What about the castle. Is it ready?” I asked

She gave an exasperated sigh. “Yes, the castle is ready and the view is just gorgeous. You wouldn’t believe the way the sun looks over the moor at sunset.” She gave a wistful laugh. “I guess that’s why you chose it”

“I chose it because of its location. Also, Sween Castle is one of the first places I first met Aiden at.” She looked curious now.

“Really, Aiden never told me that.” she replied.

“He wouldn’t seeing as he doesn’t know either.”

That got a confused look now. This was kind of fun

“The first time I meet him was five years also when I was on a sabbatical from work. I was just looking for a place to go when I was a museum opening. It was the Sween Castle. It was boasting its 900 plus years of being on earth and not being destroyed by all the wars and such. I wasn’t really interested in the museum as much as the castle itself.  I guess you could say I was compelled to go. I had been there for two weeks when I had my first sighting. What I saw was a man who was looking a little lonely so I started to walk over there when I saw he was on the phone talking to someone I still don’t know. I stopped and just stared at him. I stayed there for what seemed to be hours but was only a few minutes. When he looked my way I pretended to look the other way, and I just let him walk past me. I never saw him again. Well that is until I meet him again two years ago and everything fell into place.”

By the time I’d finished my little story, the sky had darken to a deep pink that made the world seem to always be bright. The color brought put the dark places in the world but showed that there is light also.

“Why haven’t you told him of this? I’m sure he’d like to know the first time you laid eyes on him.” She asked me.

I looked toward the sky again and spoke my heart.

“Because I was never really sure it world work out between us, up until he proposed I wasn’t really sure of myself. I use to think that I wasn’t really all that good for him. Like I was just holding him beck from finding his real love.  But the day he proposed I looked into his eyes and I surprised myself by looking past all the things I believed, and looked for the things I didn’t think would be there.” I paused because I was getting caught up in the memory, I sighed.

“But it was and I was so very happy.” A tear slid down my check but I didn’t bother to make it go away.

Aiden walked in and took one look at me and his mother and just like any other man jumped to conclusions.

“Mom, what did you say to her?”  He sat down next to me and glared at his mother.

She was about the reply what I jumped before she could.

“She didn’t say anything. I was doing all the talking and besides’ these are tears of joy.” I pulled him into my embrace and just let him hold me. For the longest time I was sure I was going to have to spend my life alone, just like my mother had predicted. But then this crazy man stepped into my life and the bright lights only got brighter from there.

He pulled back and looked into my eyes.

 “You sure? He said.

“Yes I’m sure.” I replied back.

“Because if you’re not I could ban her from the wedding.” He remarked.

I smacked him on the arm and smiled.

“Stop, you’re ruining the moment. And no you can’t, she paid for the thing. It’d be like banning God from Earth even though He’s the one that built it.

He stood there just standing next to me for a while, us just looking in my eyes before finally saying alright.

I hugged him tight and whispered “I love you.”

“I love you too.” He whispered back.

And with those last brilliant words, the sun sank into the horizon and day finally gave way to night.
