Not a Prologue

Hi.

See everything is already very cynical and cliche. Turn back if you were expecting a well written beginning filled with uniqueness and world chaos.

This is the story of Me. (Her name is literally Me).

Now Me have always been strange. Not in the weird serial-killer-kid-starter-pack way. But in the way that she was always accepted everywhere and yet fit in nowhere. She loved dreaming up stories and watching cartoons and she had a normal childhood. Normal in the way that her parents seperated when she was young and she lived with her mom until she entered highschool and wanted a fresh start and went and lived with her dad.

Me always had friends but she wanted their approval. Yet nothing ever came from having it. In highschool she loved hanging out with friends but it was more a chore. See Me was a loner. Not the attention seeking type nor the type that listened to metal or drew amazing artwork.

Me was a loner of a different kind. She loved being around people but she was a quiet soul. She loved hanging out in malls with a friend but she preffered being at home and spending time with her parents and pets.

To her peers Me seemed quiet and smart and good at almost anything. But she is actually quite average. However Me didn't want to be all that. She wanted to be the normal blonde girl who listened to pop music and knew how to do her hair in an array of different styles and she even wanted to know how to use the one thing well that had always alluded her - make up.

But Me wasn't and at the end of her high school career everyone wanted to know what Me was going to do with her life. That was a very difficult question. For a variety of reasons.

Firstly Me was very driven and had decided to follow in her dad's footsteps by going into the world of backslashes and command lines (in other words - computers). When she answered that people still wanted to know more and they wanted Me to elaborate further by asking questions like where was Me going to study and so on and so on.

Me then just normally replies that she was going to study it on her own. Without the help of a college and university. The people would then become very quiet. Their faces would betray a glimpse of a very sad expression and then came the overenthusiastic replies that hid their apprehensions. This always felt to Me like she turned into a ghost right in front of them and that they had decided that she was not going to be succesfull in life and that they could already see her on the news or in the papers as this lonely cat lady or trailer park stigma. The conversation would tie off and the person would move to talk to another of Me's peers, one that would most likely be a lawyer or a doctor and wouldn't end up without doing something with their lives.

This didn't bother Me. She knew what everyone was thinking and she would most likely never see them again. You see anyone else in Me's situation would become almost vengeful in their quest to prove the person that saw their decision as throwing their lives away wrong. Me however just shook it off. She knew she would succeed in something eventually and nothing anyone thought usually bothered her.

So after high school Me unconciously distanced herself from everyone she knew in high school except her one friend who became her best friend for life. Let's call him You. Now You was also ostracized during his early life. First he was called a rebel and a good for nothing and a hopeless cause. But he grew up and became the most hard working and the most intelligent person in their high school. That however made him popular but still pushed to the side and only pulled back into the center when someone needed help with a maths or physics question.

Me admired him from afar because he was so smart and she thought that he was popular amd would never even pay attention to someone like her. You thought differently she found. They soon began talking about school work and then moved onto series and so throughout the time they spent together they became best friends. People even thought they were dating and some still do.

But people rarely know the truths behind how a situation looks. You was infact gay and not even Me had picked up on it untill You told her oneday. On a side note Me is hetero but she feels that she doesn't want anyone romantically. She prefers being by herself and worrying about her own problems. Besides being a bachelorette means a lot to Me because deep down she is still a little girl at heart that dreams of earthly stuff like anime and teddy bears and technology.

Her parents will never admit it but they also thought Me and You were dating for a while. And they also notice their daughters strange personality and obsessions with technology and gaming consoles and yet they accept her.

Another thing you should know about Me before I begin the real story is that Me is very cynical, cliche and strange. She lives 60% in her mind and 40% in real life and she prefers it that way. She is neither one nor the other yet she always is and will be completely herself.
