6 Months Later
My new life beginning after an awful incident that will never be forgotten. Moving was not my perfect idea of forgetting about the past, but I guess my say does not matter.
After months of therapy and being watched at school, a new start didn't seem so bad after all. Everyone pitied me and now no one knows about my past. Some people believed that my family had something to do with the accident which made it even worse.
Watching all the trees and buildings go by makes me think about how my favorite cousin will never have the chance to see these things.
"Are we almost there yet?" Levi asked for the tenth time. "In about another hour," my dad replied.
My mom was reading her book in the passenger seat. She was having the hardest time dealing with what happened. She is now the last of her family.
I looked out the window one last time before deciding to take a nap. My thoughts kept me up at night so it was worth a try.
"Katherine come on we have to go inside!" I heard Levi yelling, waking me up. I opened my eyes slowly, everything seemed so blurry. My glasses must have fell off when I was sleeping.
When getting out of the car I saw the house. I have never seen the house before until now. It was one of those houses that you see in a scary movie that was really cheap. Some of the windows were patched up with wood and newspaper. I wonder why the recent owners left.
Walking up to the house with my bags in my hand, I got a sudden realization that this is going to be my new life, my new house. "Honey," my father said snapping me out of my daze, "Are those all your bags?"
I looked down and saw my three medium size bags on the ground. "You know I don't own many things dad" I said while picking up my bags.
The only bedrooms in the house were up stairs. I started walking up stairs when I was pushed slightly to the side. Levi was running up the stairs, probably trying to get the best room. I honestly do not care where my bedroom is, as long as it is not in the attic.
The first room I see is the bathroom, next to it looks like the master bedroom. The master bedroom was pretty big for an old house and was very old looking. The curtains were white and ripped and the wallpaper was peeling a bit. I kept going assuming that would be my parents bedroom. The next room over had a sticky note on the door: "Katherine keep out, it's mine." This was Levi's handwriting. I rolled my eyes and kept going. I didn't even bother opening the door.
The last room on the left looked promising. I opened the door and peeked inside. Opening the door fully, I saw the perfect room. The room that would help change my life around.
The wallpaper was very elegant looking and was not that ripped. I was hoping when I was first told that I was moving in an old house, that my room will look old like in the olden days; I guess my wish came true.
Before finishing looking around at my room I got interrupted. "Katherine! Come check this out!" I hear my brother yelling. I slowly walked out of my room, wanting to stay in there. When I get into the hallway, the attic door was open.
My first instinct was to call out for Levi, incase he was hurt. I hear stomping upstairs.
"Levi! Are you up there?" I yelled up the attic entrance. I heard no answer. Slowly, I made my way up the attic stairs, afraid I would fall.
"Levi!" I called one more time before fully going in the attic. When I got up there, it was completely dark. I reached for my phone to get the flashlight. The attic was full of crap and old objects; and was huge.
My anxiety was rising up so I had to take deep breathes. I started looking for Levi. "Levi!" I screamed a few more times, still not getting a response.
I see a lot of things on the ground like there is no pathway. I didn't know where to start. I couldn't go get my parents because they were gone, checking things out around town.
When I turned around, I saw something on the ground that did not look normal. It was a body. I rushed over in case it was Levi. I turned over what I thought was Levi and saw a mannequin that looked like a real person. The face was burned off and the hands were gone. Who would do that? Did the previous owners do this?
I keep going seeing a huge box sitting in the middle of the attic, which made me suspicious. Walking towards it I look over and saw a shoe. It was Levi's. I push boxes over near where I found the shoe and saw Levi. Unconscious.
