The Hospital

Everything got brighter. It hurt, seeing the lights. I heard things in my head.

I hurt, my body ached. I guess the adrenaline had made me unaware of my own injuries.

I WISH I HAD SAID IT BACK!

I closed my eyes and tried to sit up. But it hurt. A lot.

Then it all hit me.

MISSION FAILED BLACK WIDOW DOWN!

The medics, me clinging on to all that was left, the weakness I made her show.

The first I love you she'd ever said.

It made me want to die. I was trying not to cry.

This lead to me shaking, it hurt my body to breathe, my heart ached with guilt and pain. I was ready to give up. Stop.

I started sobbing, gut wrenching, heartbreaking, shrill screams and sobs.

I saw a doctor come in, Steve too.

'Natasha!" I screeched. Steve's face turned down.

"Wanda, calm down...Wanda! Calm down! Wanda, you're alright!" Steve held me as I cried.

The doctor injected me with a needle, probably a tranquiliser.

I felt my body weaken, I became tired and though the tears didn't stop they slowed to a point where I could breathe.

MISSION FAILED! AGENT ROMANOFF DOWN!!!

"Is... she dead?" I asked him. "Natasha... was confirmed dead... I'm sorry..." he held me.

I WISH I HAD SAID IT BACK!

There was a long silence before I managed to speak again.

"She...she said I-I could c-could... k-k-keep th-he j-ja-jacket... she said I could keep the jacket... the last thing she said. You can keep the jacket..." Steve nodded. "She felt it was important to say." I cried.

"I always wanted to... she never had to say it but I would've kept the jacket anyways... but god now that's the last thing I want... I wish I could make her take the jacket back..." I clenched my eyes shut and held onto Steve.

"Why does it hurt so much? Why does my heart feel so torn? I only felt this way with the Pietro scare."

"It's because what you two had, your love was real."

I WISH I HAD SAID IT BACK!    MISSION FAILED! BLACK WIDOW DOWN!!!

And I knew. Those sentences... I would never forget them for as long as I lived.
