The Nexus (Entry)

I left school, but I didn't go to my Abode. I had a few Credits with me because I didn't bother to purchase any lunch. That chip I saw in my SmartSpecs, it was important. And for some reason, I had a feeling it was important for me.

OUCH!

System Error: Grammatical.

I walked along the streets, dodging WA's as if I were a fugitive. I might as well have been, underage androids aren't allowed to be outside unless they are at school. So every android I saw who would care to question my presence on the streets, I avoided.

Why was I walking through the city? You can't break into maximum security governmental and scientific central without tools, can you? I headed further down the straight road until I arrived at a fork. I remembered that fork well. My Father Unit Caretaker 1 purchased a weapon from a store down the left-hand of this fork. I proceeded, still being mindful of my cover. I opened the door to the weapon store and was greeted by the scent of raw and steaming metal. Along with that greeting, I saw the store owner. He was staring at me, with a confused look. That meant he was a WA (Wealthy Android). WA's are like AMA's, except, WA's don't necessarily have to be rich. Once they have acquired one extra feeling, they are considered WA's.

I had to act like any other lifeless android. I made a blank face and walked completely mechanical towards him. He looked down at me and said," Aren't you supposed to be at your Abode little one?"

I kept the blank expression and spoke, "My Father Unit Caretaker 1 gave me instructions to purchase some items. He said I was to tell you that he works for the Nexus and that the items are needed badly." I waited for him to reply. He looked at me very apprehensively. He'd been giving me a lot of looks. Business must have been good for him, he had a lot of feelings. He looked at the door then at me and then nodded toward the rest of the room. That was a test. "I do not comprehend what that body gesture means." He looked a bit more comfortable then. You see, if I were 'normal' android, I would not have been able to process the meaning of his body movements.

"Go on, find the items."

I went deep into the store, as far as I could from him. Then I looked around for what I would need. I saw a sash-like material that had black circles around it. I didn't know what it was but it intrigued me. I stepped forward and a hologram booted up and explained the item, "This item is a Smoke Grenade Holster and Re-generator," the holographic Female Android model said. Smoke grenades would be perfect. I took them up and continued. I need firepower, but not noticeable firepower. It needs to be easily accessible and rechargeable. Then it came to my eyes, the black, sinewy-looking globes glistened in the light of the store. Lethal Laser Gloves. I took them up, of course. Everything from that point was just for assurance, small disposable weaponry and shielding items. I took the selected items to the owner, and his eyes marvelled at what I brought him. If you don't expect people to buy his stuff, why sell it?

"What is your Father Unit Caretaker 1 doing with these items young one?" He asked, cashing them.

"That is classified information," I said, taking my goods and leaving the store. Sometimes it's good being senseless, you aren't expected to talk to people you don't want to as much.
I headed to my Abode and prepared for the night to come.

I strapped on the Smoke-Grenade Sash from my shoulder to my waist and used its extra holster capabilities to hold some extra items. I put on the gloves and they whirred and beeped like crazy. I wasn't surprised, almost all weapons do a Bio-check before usage. Then I took out the Multifunctional Goggles I'd also picked up at the store. You never know. They rested on the top of my head, laying perfectly above my forehead.
