Blurb
Victoria Valencia Valquez, called Vicky by her friends, never planned on finding anything even remotely interesting on her family's week-long hiking trip in Colorado, much less a cave hidden from the world for centuries, home to five ancient dragons who keep the world in balance. However, that's just what she did find. And if that wasn't enough to take in, they're in trouble. The sixth dragon has been captured by a mysterious and sinister group known as the Facility, and it's up to Vicky and five other kids, linked to the dragons in mysterious ways, to restore the Draconic Balance.
Prologue
"Are we in agreement?"
Sabris turned his head toward Miya. Somehow, his face remained shrouded in some sort of mysterious shadow even when he was facing the light. "I must say, I am not sure about this. Much as I like the idea of new souls coming to feed me and my slaves, it seems so farfetched. How do you plan to get your new Rider's attention after your bond has been severed?" he questioned.
"Sabris, this is our only option. I can dig up some old object of hers. It doesn't have to be specific. We're getting desperate; we need to find the Pendant before time runs out for Korimun."
"Come on. Kori's always been the most resourceful of all of us. He'll cope till we get there, Miya. Stop being so uptight about all of this." These last words were from the mouth of a smaller, sky-blue dragon with a soft golden tint to his scales and white wings.
"I thought you would understand, Aegrin," growled Miya. "We don't have time to nap with our tails over our noses, letting our powers slip away from us and spiral out of control because the Dragons of Sky and Death thought my plan was a little risky!"
Aegrin shrank back submissively. "Well, I suppose it couldn't hurt to try," he said meekly.
Miya let her breath out with a long, tired sigh; the sigh of one who had seen and heard too much. "I might still have a piece of fabric from her sewing. I'll try and find it. And everyone else." She turned to the dragons surrounding her, including some who had declined to speak.
"Prepare yourselves for battle."
