Okay, my day started out pretty normal. I had spent most of it decorating the rest of the house for Halloween, and had put the final touches in the front yard. The air was cool and the trees had turned their usual bright orangish-redish colors. The sound of children's laughter could be heard from at least 2 blocks away. You could smell the fresh breeze as the sun had just began to fall behind the shivering trees.

But just like every other typical Halloween-- from the day I turned 16 to my present age of 19-- my parents went off to their annual Country-Club Costume Party, while my 12 year old brother went out trick-or-treating with his friends. And me? I was stuck giving out candy in the cold.

I didn't mind it all that much though. I was never one for parties... or friends. You could say I was "different". At least, that's what other people called me... among other things. And you could bet that "weirdo" and "freak" were a part of their descriptions of me.

In high school I was considered the outcast, and I'm not afraid to admit that. In fact I kinda enjoyed the reactions people had when I walked by. It made me feel something inside that brought a smirk to my face. Was it pride? I'm not completely sure. But I certainly do not deny the fact that I am, indeed "different" and had always felt "different".

I tended to dress in all black and wore makeup that made me look pale and brought out the crazy green and gold colors of my eyes. I wore a pentacle necklace 24/7. My vibrant red hair past my shoulders. I think that it made others afraid to approach me. Which was perfectly fine with me because I avoided everyone anyways.

I didn't like people but that didn't seem to stop my 2 best friends from sticking to me. Alex and I had met my freshman year and we became very close. And Starr... well, we just kinda gravitated towards each other as if it was fate that we meet. Now we 3 are so close that we are practically family. They are my dearest friends... My only friends. Which was okay, because Alex and Starr were the only friends I needed. Anyways, enough about my personal life, at least, for now.

4 princesses, 3 ninjas, one baby ladybug, 5 vampires, 4 werewolves, 3 witches, and 3 fairy's had graced my door step asking for candy. I counted 23 kids in all in the past 3 hours. I was coming up on my 4th hour straight of sitting outside in the cold. I could barely feel my fingers, even my nose was going numb. The night grew even colder and darker, the air was quiet with a gentle breeze stirring up the calming scent of fall.

I took in a deep breath, and let it out. God it felt so good. A sort of peacefulness filled my being as I just sat there on the steps bundled under a blanket. Leaning my head against the wooden banister and facing the stars.

Just as I was about to doze off, a loud song pierced the silence and jerked me back into reality. All of my body heat escaped me as I shot up, fumbling for my phone under neither the blanket that had fallen to the ground. I finally found it and squinted at the bright screen, my eyes stung as they adjusted to the sudden light. It read 11:00AM. 1 unread message from Drake.. Damn, I hadn't noticed how late it had gotten.

I sat there on the stairs and covered myself with the blanket again. The cold night air made my body ache. I was only wearing a black sleeveless dress with leggings. I had applied white makeup to my face and black eye-shadow around my eyes with some black lipstick to top it all off.

I shoved my arms through the selves of the white bloodstained hoody that I had draped around my shoulders. Reaching for my phone again I checked the time. The screen flashed 12:45AM and a txt from my brother saying that he was going to be spending the night at a friends house. I only had about 5 seconds to read his message before the screen went black. "Dead." I sighed to myself. "This night couldn't possibly get any better."

I got up, gathering the blanket in my hand arms, and went inside. Shutting and locking the door behind me, I plugged up my phone on the charger we kept in the hall. It slowly turned itself back on. And as the main screen popped up again, it displayed the time, 1:05AM, and a missed-call from (666)666-6666 received at 1:00AM, name Unknown.
